Introduction: Change the Design on the Back of the Cards in Spider Solitaire

Spider solitaire doesn't allow you the option to change the design on the back of the cards. This instructable will show you how to change it.

Step 1: Program Needed

The only program you probably dont have that you will need is
Resource Hacker. It is a free download from : http://www.download.com/Resource-Hacker/3000-2352_4-10178587.html?tag=mncol
Download and install Resource Hacker.
If you want to use one of my deck designs right click on it and save it to your desktop

Step 2:

1. In window XP open My Computer and click on Local disk.

Step 3: Click on the WINDOWS Icon.

Click on the WINDOWS icon.

Step 4:

Then click on the SYSTEM32 icon.

Step 5:

Right click on the Spider.exe icon and select copy from the drop down menu.

Step 6:

Close the system32 file and go to your desktop and right click on it and select paste. This will put spider.exe on your desktop.

Step 7:

Open Resource Hacker. Click file and select the spider.exe file you put on the desktop.

Step 8:

Click on the plus sign next to Bitmaps

Step 9:

Scroll down to click on the plus sign next to CARDBACK and click on 1033 underneath it. You should see the spider design to the left.



Step 10:

If you want to use one of my deck designs, make sure the 1033 file is still highlighted and click on Action at the top and select Replace Bitmap. Download them in step 12.
If you want to create your own deck skip to step 14.

Step 11:

The window below will open. Click on Open file with new bitmap.
A window will open and you will need to navigate to the bitmap you want to use. Once selected the new design will appear on the right, then click close at the bottom.

Step 12:

Here are my card designs. If you want to use one of these right click on it and save it. Be sure it is saved as a .bmp

Step 13:

You should be back to the main screen of resource hacker. Click File and save and your done. Click on the Spider.exe icon on your desktop and play it with your new deck.

Step 14:

Now if you want to create your own deck.
Right click on the 1033 file and select Save Bitmap : CARDBACK : 1033. Create a name and Save it to your desktop.

Now using an image editor open the bitmap you just saved and change it and save it making sure it is 256 colors and a .bmp file.
12. Go back to step 9 & 10 and use the bitmap you just created.
