Introduction: Crispy Corn on a Stick

Each one of us love corn and also fried food. So this dish is perfect for you, to eat on your workout cheat days. Crispy Corn is a snack made by deep frying kernels and flavoring with spices. I became familiar with this dish through Barbeque-Nation and I loved this so much that i wanted to try making it at home since a very long time. Finally i made the crispy corn, that too on a stick. Isn't this interesting?

This recipe is so easy peasy and gives a perfect crispy yummy snack. You should definitely try making this. This requires a few ingredients and can be made in just an hour or less. This is a perfect party snack. Easy to make, easy to serve, easy to eat. Let's start making it.

Supplies

Step 1: Cut Corn

  • Take 2 sweet corns and cut it into 3 parts each.
  • Make sure that the size is 1 cm (0.3") less than the size of the stick.
  • Here i have used small toothpicks.
  • After cutting, remove one or two line of corn kernels with the help of a knife.
  • Keep this ready.

Step 2: Assemble Corn Sticks

  • Insert toothpick into1 line of corn and carefully remove the kernels along with the toothpick.
  • Do this for all the corn and toothpicks.
  • Our Corn Sticks are ready to be boiled.

Step 3: Boiling Corn

  • In a big pan, heat 1 liter of water.
  • When the water starts boiling add the corn sticks and boil it for 5-10 minutes.
  • After 5-10 minutes, Turn off the flame and strain out the corn sticks.
  • Let the corn sticks cool for 15-20 minutes.

Step 4: Marination

    Take the corn sticks in a big bowl after it is cooled completely. To the corn sticks, Add the following

    • 4 tablespoon of corn flour.
    • 4 tablespoon of rice flour.
    • Salt as per taste.
    • Mix everything well.
    • Add 2-3 tablespoon of water and mix again.

    Make sure all the corn sticks are perfectly coated with the flour. This is a powder marination. Once the corn sticks are coated, Take them out, dust the excess flour and keep it another bowl. Cover and keep it in the deep freezer for 30 minutes.

    Step 5: Frying

    • Take out the corn sticks from the freezer.
    • Take a pan and heat oil.
    • Once the oil is perfect hot for frying, Fry the corn sticks in batches.
    • Don't over crowd the pan.
    • Fry this for 3-5 minutes till it is nice, crispy and golden brown.
    • Take out in a plate.
    • Similarly fry all the corn sticks.

    Step 6: Spice Mix

    Now our fried corn sticks are read, let's prepare the seasoning.

    In a small bowl, Take

    • 1/2 teaspoon of chaat masala.
    • 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder.
    • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper powder.
    • 1/2 teaspoon of oregano seasoning.
    • Salt as per taste

    Mix everything well and sprinkle this spice mixture over the fried corn sticks.

    Step 7: Ready

    Tadaa! Our Crispy corn sticks are ready.

    Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves and squeeze some lemon juice for the nice tangy taste. Serve it with ketchup or any of your favorite sauce. You can season with your choice of seasonings. This crispy corn goes well with oregano and chili flakes.
