Supplies

Materials:

  • Epoxy resin
  • Hardener
  • Silicone molds
  • Mixing cups
  • Stirring sticks
  • Sandpaper (1000 grit)
  • Drill
  • Eye screws or jump rings
  • Chains or cords
  • Photopaper 150g
  • Printer
  • Scissors
  • Computer

Step 1: Prepare Your Work Area

Make sure you have a clean and well-ventilated area to work in. Cover your workspace with a plastic sheet or newspaper to protect it from spills.

Step 2: Mix the Resin and Hardener

Mix the epoxy resin and hardener according to the instructions on the package. Stir the mixture thoroughly for at least five minutes to ensure it's well-blended.

Step 3: Generate Tiny Artworks

Generate various patterns with the help of the opensource software "Processing". Get inspireted by classical artworks such as by Piet Mondrian, Wassily Kandinsky or Jackson Pollock. Export the results to a JPG and save them on your computer.

Step 4: Print on Photo-paper

Now print the artworks with a photo-printer. Make sure they are in the same shape and size of your silicone-molds. Then cut the printed shapes out with some sissors.

Step 5: Pour the Resin Into Molds

Pour the resin mixture into silicone molds. Fill them to the top.

Step 6: Add Pieces of Paper

Add your pieces of artworks printed on photo-paper to the resin mixture. Press the paper down until it almost reaches the ground. Make sure your Resign remains in the molds.

Step 7: Let It Cure

Allow the resin to cure for at least 24 hours. Keep it in a warm, dry place and avoid touching or moving the molds during this time.

Step 8: Remove From Molds

Once the resin has cured, carefully remove the jewelry pieces from the molds. Use sandpaper to smooth any rough edges.

Step 9: Add Eye Screws or Jump Rings

Drill a small hole in the top of the resin piece and insert an eye screw or jump ring. This will allow you to attach a chain or cord to your jewelry.

Step 10: Add Chains or Cords

Attach your chains or cords to the eye screws or jump rings.

Step 11: Wear Your Jewelry

Your resin jewelry is now ready to wear! Enjoy your new unique art-pieces.
