All aquarists have seen that hokey looking breeding grass for a dollar at walmart. It comes in an un-natural looking square, and is pretty much an eyesore. I got tired of having it out of my tank, so i decided i would do something with it.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

You will need:
1x Tube Aquarium-Safe Silicon
1x Hokey looking breeding grass
1x Large peice of slate
4x Small peices of slate (optional)

Tools:
2x hands

Time:
<15 minutes

Cost:
Assuming you have none of the materials:
$6 Silicon
$1 Breeding grass
$5 2lbs slate

Step 2: Disassembling

Remove all of the clumps of the grass from the square frame. Grab near the bottom of the clump, grasp firmly, and pull the clump off over the barb. If you got the same brand that i did, you will have 16 individual clumps.

Step 3: Silicon

Apply a small dab of aquarium-safe silicon to the bottom of each clump and place them on your slate

Step 4: Arange

Arange the clumps how you please on your slate.

IMPORTANT! Make sure both your slate and your clumps are dry, and dust free, or your silicon will not adhere properly.

Step 5: Fin!

When you decide you are done, let your silicon dry/cure for 24 hours before putting it in your tank. If you have alot of excess silicon showing, you can sprinkle sand over the beads. I didnt have a whole lot of excess, so i didnt bother to.
