Supplies

Step 1: Prepare Potato Twisters

Spline the potato into spiral using Spiral tool, link to which can be found in Supplies.

Follow these Steps to use the spiral tool:

  1. Add the plastic spiral tool into Skewers facing pointed side up.
  2. Push the potato inside the metal skewers.
  3. Fit the white locking device and fix the potato.
  4. Rotate the cutter to make spiral cutting like tornado.
  5. Remove the metal skewer and carefully transfer it to 300mm bamboo sticks. ( we will fry potatoes on stick! )
  6. Suspend the ends of potato spiral to make sure it doesn't come loose while frying. ( Entire twister will be fried along with stick.)

Alternatively, you can use Knife to make the potato twisters. You can find a video demonstration of the same below:

Step 2: Preparing Batter

In a bowl add the following ingredients to make a thick and nice batter which will basically enhance the taste of potato twisters!

  1. Take 1/4th cup all purpose flour.
  2. 1/4th cup corn flour.
  3. ½ teaspoon chat masala.
  4. 1 ½ teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder.
  5. Salt as per taste.
  6. Gradually add ½ cup of water and make a smooth batter.

Our batter is ready to please our taste buds!

Step 3: Assembling the Aloo Twisters

Evenly coat the tornado with the batter from all the sides. This step will embed the spicy and delicious flavor inside the potato and will please your taste buds after frying! Do this with all the potatoes.

(If the Batter isn't sticking perfectly or the coat is too thing, try adding more Corn flour to the batter and recoat, this will help grip better).

Step 4: Deep Frying

  • In a big pan heat oil.
  • Once the oil is medium hot, put the prepared tornados into the oil and let it fry for 5 mins on each side till they’re nice golden brown and crispy.
  • Once they are done, take them out on a paper towel.

(Alternatively, you can also use Air frier or Electric Deep fry pan.)

Step 5: Spice Affair!

This is an customizable step. You can season it according to your liking. I’m going to tell you my favorite seasoning.

In a bowl mix the following spices.

    1. 1 teaspoon of red chili powder.
    2. 1 teaspoon of roasted cumin powder.
    3. 1 teaspoon of Chili Flakes.
    4. 1 teaspoon of Oregano.
    5. Mix this very well & dust it on the fried potato tornados.

(You can season it with anything you like, cheese powder, chaat masala, peri peri. Everything goes very well with this. Also you can add Mayonnaise to even enhance the taste, which i did and trust me it tastes soo much better.)

Step 6: Lets Eat the Twisters!

Tadaa! Our potato twisters are ready.
