Trace an Image for Your T-shirt / Beeld Bewerken Voor Een T-shirt

In deze handleiding leer je een plaatje of foto omzetten naar een simpele vector lijntekening die je kan gebruiken voor een vinyl- of lasersnijder. In deze handleiding gebruiken we Photoshop en Illustrator.

In this tutorial you will learn how to convert an image or a photo into a simple vector drawing that you can use in the vinyl or laser cutter. In the tutorial we use Photoshop en Illustrator.

Step 1: Open Your Image / Open Een Beeld

Start Photoshop op, kies File > Open en selecteer je plaatje.

Start Photoshop, choose File > Open and select your file.

Step 2: Set Your Image to Greyscale / Bewerk Naar Grijsschalen

Kies Image > Mode > Greyscale om je afbeelding om te zetten naar grijswaarden. Er verschijnt een pop-up menu waar je op 'discard” drukt.

Choose Image > Mode > Greyscale to switch to greyscale. A pop-up menu appears, click 'discard'.

Step 3: Optimize the Image / Optimaliseer Het Beeld

Kies wederom Image, en dan Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast. Speel met de schuiven totdat je een afbeelding hebt met een goed contrast, en niet te veel verschillende grijstinten.

Again select Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast. Play with the slides until your image has a high contrast and not too many different greys.

Step 4: Save Your File / Bewaar Je Bestand

Kies File > Save as. Geef je bestand een naam en sla het op in je werkmap.

Choose File > Save as. Name your file and save it in your project folder.

Step 5: Open Your File in Illustrator / Open in Illustrator

Kies File > Open, en selecteer je bestand.

Click File > Open, and select your file.

Step 6: Select Your Image / Selecteer Beeld

Links in beeld staat een toolbar, selecteer hier het zwarte pijltje linksboven. Selecteer met het zwarte pijltje je afbeelding. Boven je foto verschijnt in de werkbalk een knop 'Live Trace'. Als je hier op drukt wordt je afbeelding omgezet in zwart wit contrast. Tevreden over het resultaat? Ga door naar stap 10.

On the left of your screen you will find a toolbar. Select the black arrow on the top left. Use this arrow to select your image. Above your image a button 'Live Trace' will appear. When clicking this button your image will be converted to black and white. Are you satisfied with the result? Then skip the next steps and continue at step 10.

Step 7: Live Trace

Naast de 'Live Trace' knop staat een pijltje naar beneden. Hier op klikken opent de Trace-instellingen. Selecteer helemaal onderaan 'Tracing Options'.

Next to the 'Live Trace' button you will see a down arrow. Clicking this arrow will open the trace settings. Select 'Tracing Options' at the bottom.
