Overview


Welcome to our second ever Featured Author Contest! This contest is put together for you by DeandrasCrafts (check out her Featured Author Interview here!) and the theme is yarn, thread, and needlecraft! This contest is open to crocheting, knitting, embroidery, latch craft, and tatting. Pretty much anything using a hook or a "needle" (but no sewing). Pom-poms would be pushing it but also acceptable.

DeAndra is very active in several local charities. One of her goals for this contest is to start the conversation of how important it is to use your talents to help mankind and humanity in general. Therefore, there's a special judge's prize for a project that is for, or related to a charity, organization, or cause! Make sure to link to the charity website in your instructable and you could win a handmade Instructables robot hat from DeAndra!

Some of DeAndra's favorite charities include Elder Paws Rescue, a rescue organization for dogs over 7 years old and Threads of Love, a sewing ministry meeting the needs of newborns and tiny premature infants and their families (find your local chapter here!).  We hope this inspires you to get involved in some of your own local organizations and charities!

Please be sure that your entry into the contest contains original photos and text. Entries without original photos and text will be denied.

Multiple entries are accepted, but each entrant can only win one prize. Contest is open to entries from US, Canada [excluding Quebec], UK, China, Belgium, the Netherlands, Australia, Colombia, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, India, New Zealand, and Denmark. The Contest begins at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PT), July 14, 2014. Contest closes for entries at 11:59pm PT, August 4, 2014.

The winner(s) will be solely responsible for complying with any and all applicable statutes, laws (including, without limitation, common law, if applicable), rules and regulations and for bearing any personal income tax, VAT, withholding taxes, customs duties, or other taxes, fees, insurance, surcharges or other costs relating to receiving, claiming or collecting any prize.

How It Works

Write an Instructable

Create a new Instructable that fits the guidelines outlined in the contest description above. To be eligible, Instructables must be published between Jul 14, 2014 and Aug 4, 2014 (11:59pm PT).

Accepting

Entries are accepted by Instructables staff within one business day Monday - Friday. What matters is the submission time, not acceptance time.

Judging

A panel of judges made up of Instructables staff and respected members of the community rate the finalists. The averages of the ratings determine the winners.
