Introduction: Amigurumi the Very Hungry Caterpillar

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a children's picture book designed, illustrated and written by Eric Carle, first published by the World Publishing Company in 1969.
This is one of my favorite childhood books so I created this very simple pattern.
Final measurement is 15 inches long and 2 inches wide.

Supplies:
Light green yarn
Dark green yarn
Red yarn
Yellow yarn
Brown yarn
5.50 mm hook
Needle
Scissors
polyester fiberfill stuffing

Step 1: Body

Body x7 (3x light green, 3x dark green and 1 red yarn):
R1: 6 SC into ring (6 SC)
R2: 2-SC INC around (12 SC)
R3: *SC 1, 2-SC INC into next SC * around. (18 SC)
R4: * SC 2, 2- SC INC into next SC * around. (24 SC)
R5: * SC 3, 2- SC INC into next SC * around. (30 SC)
R6: * SC 4, 2- SC INC into next SC * around. (36 SC)
R7: * SC 5, 2- SC INC into next SC * around. (42 SC)
R8-12: 1 SC in each SC around. (42 SC)
R13: *SC 5, 2-DEC into next SC * around. (36 SC)
R14: *SC 4, 2-DEC into next SC * around. (30 SC)
R15: *SC 3, 2-DEC into next SC * around. (24 SC)
R16: *SC 2, 2-DEC into next SC * around. (18 SC)
R17: *SC 1, 2-DEC into next SC * around. (12 SC)
Fasten off. Leave a long tail for attaching. Stuff with polyester filling. Set aside.

Step 2: Face

Eyes x2 (green and yellow yarn):
With green yarn
R1: CH 3
R2: 1 SC in each SC around. (6 SC)
Switch to yellow
R3: 1 SC in each SC around. (12 SC)
Fasten off. Leave a long tail for attaching. Set aside.


Nose (green yarn):
R1: CH 3
R2: 1 SC in each SC around. (6 SC)
Fasten off. Leave a long tail for attaching. Set aside.


Antennae (Brown Yarn):
CH 10
Fasten off. Leave a long tail for attaching. Set aside.

Step 3: Assembly

Assembly:
Using the long tail for sewing attach red body ball to dark green followed be light green and repeat dark and light greens. Attach eyes, nose and antennae to the red head of the caterpillar.
