Joso Kindergarten Care Bag Project

As part of the volunteering effort to aid the flood-ravaged community of Joso, Ibaraki, Japan, we set up project "Joso Care Bag". Each bag containing stationery, a storybook and craft items.

関東東北豪雨による常総市の洪水被災者支援ボランティアの一環として、"Joso Care Bag"(常総ケアバッグ）プロジェクトを立ち上げました。幼稚園や学校で使う手提げバッグや巾着に、文房具や本、工作材料をつめこんで、子供達に元気を届けたいと考えています。

The project evolved into making more sets for the Joso community kindergarten children. The Care Bag is comprised of two parts:

- School Book Bag

- Shoe Bag

We developed a basic pattern, cut the fabrics, then added the accessories making this into a kit which is then handed to the volunteer sewers.

私たちは、型紙を作製し、布を切り、必要なパーツを加えてキットを作製し、縫製してくださる方へお届けします。

This guideline is for the sewers who receive a kit.

Step 1: Your Kit：キットに含まれるもの

You should have in your kit:（キットに含まれているもの）

Book Bag:（絵本袋）

1 x "Main Piece" fabric (62cm x 42cm)

本体用の布(62cm x 42cm)　１枚

1 x "Bottom Trim" fabric (26cm x 42cm)

絵本袋下部の飾り布(26cm x 42cm)　１枚

2 x "Handle" tape (36cm x 2.5cm)

持ち手用カバンテープ(36cm x 2.5cm)　２本

Shoe Bag:（上履き袋）

1 x "Main Piece" fabric (58cm x 22cm)

本体用の布(58cm x 22cm)　１枚

1 x "Bottom Trim" fabric (20cm x 22cm)

袋下部の飾り布(20cm x 22cm)　１枚

1each x "Hanger" tape (30cm x 2.5cm & 8cm x 2.5cm)

持ち手用カバンテープ(30cm x 2.5cm　と　8cm x 2.5cm)　各１本

1 x "Hanger" clip (2.5cm)

持ち手用Dカンパーツ　(2.5cm)

Step 2: Step 2 - 8 Book Bag - Edge Stitch：絵本バッグ - 端処理

Edge stitch all edges of both main and trim pieces.

本体用の布、飾り布とも、すべての端をジグザグ縫いやロックミシンで処理してください。

Step 3: Fold Trim Piece：飾り布を折る

Fold down 1cm and iron the 42cm length, both sides.

飾り布の、42cm側の端を１cm折り、アイロンで折り目をつける。

Step 4: Iron in Half：半分におり折り目をつける

Fold in half and iron both main and trim pieces.

本体布、飾り布とも、半分に折りアイロンで折り目をつける。

Step 5: Attach Trim to Main Piece：飾り布を本体に取り付ける

1. Using the iron halfway seam, position and pin the trim onto the main piece.

前のステップでつけた折り目を利用して、本体の上に飾り布を重ね、折り目を合わせる。

位置を合わせたらマチ針で止める。

2. Machine both top and bottom

飾り布の上と下をミシンで縫い付ける。

Step 6: Attach Handles：持ち手をつける

1. Fold in 2cm and iron.

本体布の上部を２cmのところで折り、アイロンで折り目をつける。

2. Pin handles (taking care the tape is facing the same way on the same side).

持ち手をマチ針でとめる。（持ち手テープの向きが同じになるように気をつけてください）

3. Machine along the fold and handles.

折り目に沿って、持ち手も含めて、ミシン掛けする。

4. Criss cross machine the base of the handle to secure.

持ち手を補強するために、持ち手と本体接合部には、X印でステッチをかける。

5. Repeat on the other end.

反対側の持ち手も同様の手順でとりつける。

Step 7: Machine Sides：両サイドを縫う

Machine both sides.

本体を裏返して、両サイドをミシン掛けする。

Step 8: Bottom ：底部

1. Fold the bottom corners inwards.

裏返して、底部分の角を折り、バッグにマチをつくる。

2. Measure 3cm in and machine across.

３cm測り、マチを固定するようにミシンをかける。

Step 9: Step 9 - 15 Shoe Bag - Edge Stitch Pieces：上履き入れ端処理

Edge stitch all edges of both main and trim pieces.

本体布と飾り布のすべての端を、ジグザグミシンかロックミシンで端処理する。

Step 10: Fold Trim Piece：飾り布を折る

Fold down 1cm and iron the 22cm length, both sides.

飾り布の22cmの長さの両端を、それぞれ、１センチ折りアイロンで折り目をつける。

Step 11: Iron in Half：半分に折り、アイロンをかける

Fold in half and iron both main and trim pieces.

本体布、飾り布とも、真ん中で半分に折り、アイロンをかける。

Step 12:

1. Using the iron halfway seam, position and pin the trim onto the main piece.

前のステップでつけた折り目を利用して、本体の上に飾り布を重ね、折り目を合わせる。
位置を合わせたらマチ針で止める。

2. Machine both top and bottom

飾り布の上と下をミシンで縫い付ける。

Step 13: Attach Handles：持ち手をつける

1. Fold in 2cm and iron.

２cmで折り、アイロンをかける。

2. Loop the handle buckle on to the 8cm tape, fold and pin.

８cmのテープでDカンを通して輪を作り、本体にマチ針で固定する。

3. Machine buckle tape on first, criss crossing the base to secure.

X印にステッチして、補強する。

4. Machine across both main piece and tape (again)

持ち手テープと本体布を合わせるようにミシン掛けする。

5. At the other end, pin and machine the 30cm tape, after folding in half.

反対側に３０cmのテープを半分に折って、マチ針で固定し、ミシン掛けする。

6. Machine across both main piece and tape (again)

持ち手テープと本体布を合わせるようにミシン掛けする。

Step 14: Machine Sides：両サイドをミシン掛け

Machine both sides.

両サイドをミシン掛けして、袋状にする。

Step 15: Bottom：底部

1. Fold the bottom edge UP 2cm and iron.

裏返して、端を２センチ折り、アイロンをかける

2. Machine only 2cm on each side along the side seam.

両サイドを、織り込んだ部分、２センチだけミシン掛けする。
