Introduction: Anet A8 Extruder Cooler Mod

Some times when I was using my Anet A8 3D Printer, I would get the filament stuck in the nozzle while changing the filament.

I ended up having to strip down the fan and heat sink to gain access to the back of the feed pipe.

I have seen some people remove the heat sink and put the fan on a hinge, this defeats the object of what the fan is cooling. The original heat sink that the fan is cooling is attached to the lower block of the feed unit, that's what the fan and heat sink is cooling.

So I made this modification to give me access all the time.

This mod still cools the lower block of the feed unit.

Step 1: Front View of the Mod

This is what the mod looks like from end.

You can see I now have clear access to the back of the feed pipe and the drive gear.

Step 2: This Is the Back View

The yellow pieces are another mod I did to stop the filament from pulling on the feed unit.

Step 3: Bought Items

I bought 2 items to do this mod. (both from eBay, very cheep)

1. Fujitsu Esprimo V5515 CPU Cooling Heatsink.

2. Double Extruder Nozzle Throat Pipe.

Step 4: Modify Parts a Little

I cut the Double Extruder Nozzle Throat Pipe in half.

It was cheaper to do this than to buy a piece of aluminium, then, cut and drill it to the size needed.

The Esprimo Heatsink just needed the spring clips and the top part of the flange removing.

Printed a couple of parts to hold the fan.
