Hello my friends, in this instructable we will be experimenting with Photoshop, using fun effects to create your very own abstract photo.

Photoshoppers!! Feel free to experiment with this destructable. Add your own twists! I would love to see what you come up with. Try using levels instead of curves, will that work?

Step 1: Setting Up...

All you need it photoshop on a runnig computer, and thats it.
I'm using Photoshop 7, but any photoshop is sure to work. I'm not too familiar with gimp, but i believe it should also work.

Set up a "New..." file (Ctrl +N). I started of with 800 X 600 pixel file

We are going to need a black background so select the color black and click Alt + Backspace to fill the canvas.

Step 2: Lens Flare...

Filter < render < Lens Flare...

Leave the default settings. It should be slightly in the corner with the 50-300 mm Zoom Lens option chosen. The brightness should be at approximately 120.

Step 3: Not Afraid to Get Funky...

Filter < distort < Polar Coordinates
Choose the Polar to Rectangular option

Then we are going to rotate the canvas
Image < rotate canvas < 90 CW

Step 4: Never a Bad Time Fro Plastic Wrap

Now we are going to go back to Polar Coordinates, but this time, instead of selecting polar to rectangular, we will be choosing Rectangular to Polar

Filter < distort < Polar Coordinates

What every artist should not leave home with out: plastic
There is nothing like a little "Plastic Wrap..." to give your artwork that edge it needs

Filter < artistic < Plastic wrap
and select:

Highlight strength: 12
Detail: 9
Smoothness: 5

Step 5: Blur Her...

Now we are just going to give it a smooth and rounded look with the Radial Blur tool.

Filter < Blur < Radial Blur...
Be sure to select the "Spin" blur method. I Blur it to about 81 with the "Best" quality selected.

Step 6: Final Editing

To get rid of any dull qualities in our picture, we are going to make some final touch-ups, making it worthy enough to possibly set as a your Background.

Artists are always looking for the right colors to set the tone of their work. To change the colors:

Image < adjustments < Hue/Saturation
or (Ctrl + U)

you can change the color by altering the "Hue", or change its vividness by messing with the "Saturation"

You can also give your picture a sharper look by going to:
Image < adjustments < Curves

you are going to find a straight line; place a dot at:

input and output: 191 & input and output: 64
and make a slight S shape as shown in the picture

Step 7: Words?

Finally, the canvas is ready to be saved. but wait, did we want to add words?

you can customize your finished project with by typing in words with the Type tool

then go to: Layer < Layer Style < Inner Shadow to stylize the print

Finally, you can further edit the type by going to layers then overlay or darken
