Tyvek Wallet - Smaller, Simpler, and Way Better!

This wallet is small (slightly longer than a dollar bill when open and not much bigger than a credit card when closed). It has velcro so it will stay closed even if you throw it in a bag. I made some of the other options out there but they were all either too big or my cards fell out. You can make this as a bifold (just leave out the velcro). And... it turns out that you will only need an 8.5" x 11" sheet of tyvek so before you start make it out of paper to work out the kinks.

Supplies

You will need:

Tyvek (a single 8.5"x11" sheet - I used an envelope that I slit open) - reuse an envelope that has already gone through the mail.
Scissors
Exacto knife (or utility knife)
metal ruler (or regular ruler)
superglue (or double sided tape such as carpet tape)
sticky back velcro
credit cards or business cards (to get the dimensions of your wallet right)

Also - most important is that your sheet is 11" tall. It can be wider than 8.5" - there is no need to cut the width yet.

Step 1: Fold Your Sheet

Fold down the center and then into thirds. I left the envelope flap for fun - you can cut it off.

Step 2: Cut the Card Opening

The card opening goes in the center. I chose this shape but you could do a circle, etc. Dont forget to unfold before cutting and cut on an old magazine or cutting board.

Step 3: Put Cards in One Side and Trim to Size

Make a fold where the edge of the wallet will be and add a little (1/4" to 1/2" for the gluing strip). Cut on the edge of the gluing strip (If this is not making sense practice on a peice of regular paper)

Step 4: Glue the First Side

I wanted to maximize the size of the bill holding area so did this fancy gluing job. You dont need to - you can just glue it all together. Get creative! I used superglue but I think strong double sided tape will also work.
