Using Armor All to Clean Your Car

Please read through all the steps prior to starting.

If your car is not covered in layers of dirt, mud, foot etc, this shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. It is also dependent on how much plastic is inside your car.

Supplies

Microfiber rags/towels

Armor-All Original Protectant Spray

Optional: Hot water with ammonia

Optional: Small bucket or bowel

Step 1: GATHER ALL THE MATERIALS

Depending on how dirty and grimy the interior is, steps one through five could be considered optional. However, I highly suggested doing them. If the interior is too dirty, the Armor All will create a gooey mess.

Step 2: PLACE a COUPLE OF CUPS OF WATER IN a SMALL BUCKET OR BOWEL WITH a FEW TABLESPOONS OF AMMONIA.

If you feel that this is unnecessary, I would use a microfiber towel and dust the inside. This will remove any small particles and aid the Armor All in cleaning and conditioning without making a mess.

Step 3: SOAK a RAG AND WRING OUT UNTIL DAMP.

Step 4: USE THE WET RAG TO WIPE DOWN ANY PLASTIC, RUBBER AND VINYL SURFACES.YOU MAY NEED TO PERIODICALLY RINSE THE RAG OF DIRT AND GRIME.

Step 5: FINISH WIPING DOWN THE DIFFERENT INTERIOR SECTIONS.

Step 6: PULL OUT a NEW, CLEAN RAG AND THE ARMOR ALL SPRAY. I SUGGEST SHAKING THE BOTTLE. I FIND IT MAKES IT LAST LONGER.

I also suggest using a smaller rag i.e. no bigger than 12”x12.” It makes it easier to hold in your hand and get into smaller crevices.

Step 7: IT DOES NOT MATTER WHICH SECTION OF THE CAR YOU START ON. SO, PICK a SECTION I.E. DOOR PANEL, DASHBOARD, SEAT BELT PLASTICS AND OTHER PLASTICS.

It is easier to think of the car as sections. That way you can make sure you clean each one. Trust me; you will be able to notice the sections that you missed after everything has dried.

Step 8: SPRAY a SMALL AMOUNT (THREE OR FOUR SQUIRTS) ONTO THE RAG. ONCE YOU HAVE IT ON THE RAG, WIPE DOWN THE SURFACES. IT SHOULD ABSORB AND LEAVE THE SURFACES SMOOTH.

If you spray it onto the rag, you avoid getting it on parts of the car i.e. the window. It will leave a film-like residue on the window or other clear surfaces that can be difficult to remove.

Also, you should be able to see where you have applied and where you haven’t. The treated sections tend to darken. If the section lightens back up, apply another coat.

If you run your fingers over the section about 30 seconds afterwards and your fingers become greasy, you have applied too much. At this point you should grab a clean rag and wipe off the excess. If you do not, it will leave a sticky residue. You will have to clean it off with ammonia and start over.

Step 9: FINISH WIPING DOWN EACH SECTION OF THE CAR.

I would NOT suggest using this on the steering wheel. While it will clean and condition, it may leave the wheel a little softer and slightly slippery.

Step 10: ONCE YOU ARE DONE, DISPOSE OF THE DIRTY WATER AND RAGS/TOWELS (UNLESS YOU WOULD LIKE TO WASH AND REUSE THEM).

After a few minutes the Armor All will have cured and will be good to go. You may find that it leaves a sweet smell for a period of time. That is normal. Best of luck!
