Introduction: 5 Ingredient Pumpkin Pi Pie (with Vegan & Gluten-Free Options)
The Pi pie is a favorite at my house. It is quick and easy to make and the addition of using a laser etcher to add Pi and its digits to the pie gives it a little extra flair of fun.
Supplies
Ingredients
- 14 oz can coconut milk
- 14oz can pumpkin puree
- 2 eggs (Vegan: 3 Tbsp cornstarch)
- 1/2 Cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp Pumpkin pie spice
- Pie crust (Gluten-free no crust)
Materials
- Measuring spoons
- Whisk
- Bowl
- Can opener
- Laser cutter
Step 1: Directions
- Set oven to 425 degrees.
- Crack eggs and whisk for 2 minutes. This breaks up the egg proteins getting them ready to hold the sugar molecules. (skip this step for Vegan option).
- Mix in wet ingredients (coconut milk and Pumpkin) and mix with a whisk until combined.
- Add dry ingredients (brown sugar, pumpkin spice) and whisk. (Add cornstarch for Vegan option). Whisk until combined
- Pour pie filling into the pie crust. (Pour filling directly into pyrex for a Gluten-free option).
- Bake pie for 30 minutes set on the counter for 10 minutes to allow the internal heat to finish cooking.
Step 2: Laser Engraving With CorelDraw
Laser Engraving Pie Using Coreldraw:
- Measure the diameter of the pie.
- Open Coreldraw.
- In Coreldraw set the width and height of the page to the pie's diameter.
- Click on the Ellipse Tool and create a circle with a diameter 1 inch less than your pie's diameter.
- Click on the Text Tool, mouse over to the edge of the circle, and click when you see the word Edge appear.
- Type in the digits of Pi until they wrap around the entire pie.
- Click on File > Import and import your favorite image of the Pi symbol.
- Using a 40 Watt laser set speed to 30 and power to 100.
