Introduction: A Wine Cork Hot Plate
I came up with this idea from the excess of wine corks my parents keep in a bag. I thought it would be perfect for the trash to treasure contest because typically you would throw wine corks away, but I wanted them to serve a purpose. Then I realized that my parents desperately need a hot plate because they've been using coasters which are not very efficient, so the idea came to mind. A wine cork hot plate is a cheaper and reusable alternative to buying a hot plate from the store, which also gives more character and style.
Supplies
At least 30 wine corks
wine corks of different sizes and looks (optional)
Glue gun
Step 1:
Before starting, set a boundary and line your corks up like so (you don't have to do it exactly like this, whichever way will benefit your construction); this way, you know how many to use so it will line up evenly. Then, you can proceed to glue them together.
Step 2:
Follow the path you have made in the opposite direction to add stability to your other corks and a more interesting look.
Step 3:
Keep adding more rows until you feel you are done. Although make sure the wine corks sit evenly, and if modifications are needed, that's fine, it's a part of the process.
Step 4:
Your hot plate is ready for use!
