Introduction: Apple Pie Cones
I love any kind of pie! There are so many flavors to choose from for an Instructable. I decided I would create something I have never seen before! Here you have my cooked sweetened apples in a cone-shaped pie crust! They were easy to make and I had fun creating them. Follow along with this Instructable to see how you can make them too!
Step 1: Supplies Need for the Pie Crust Cones
1 refrigerated pie crust from a 15-ounce package
rolling pin
sharp knife
6 cone shaped cream horn metal forms
no-stick cooking spray
baking sheet
Step 2: Preheat
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.
Step 3: For the Crust
Microwave the pie crust for 10 seconds to soften. Carefully unroll the pie crust on your work surface. Roll lightly with a rolling pin to smooth out.
Step 4: Cut Crust
Cut the crust into 6 wedges.
Step 5: Form the Cones
Spray each cream horn form with no stick cooking spray. Wipe off any excess.
Roll each pie crust wedge onto a cream horn form, pressing lightly to seal.
Step 6: Onto the Pan
Place on baking sheet. Spray each with cooking spray and sprinkle gently with sugar, if desired.
Step 7: Now Bake!
Bake at 450 degrees F. for 10 minutes.
Step 8: The Cones Are Baked
Remove from the oven when golden brown. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes.
Carefully remove each pie crust cone from the metal forms. Set aside while you make the apple filling.
Step 9: Supplies for the Apples
2 large apples (I used Johnagold)
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
peeler
small cutting board
spoon
9-inch fry pan
6 tall thin shot glasses
Step 10: Cut the Apples
To make the apples, peel the skin off of the apples. Cut into quarters. Cut out the core and seeds.
Cut each quarter in thirds. Dice into 1/2-inch pieces.
Step 11: Make the Cinnamon-sugar
In a small bowl, combine the sugar with the cinnamon, stirring to blend well.
Step 12: Melt the Butter
Melt butter in the fry pan over medium heat.
Step 13: Cook the Apples
Add the apples to the butter in the pan. Cook and stir until they begin to soften. It should take about 3 minutes.
Step 14: Add Sugar Mixture
Add the sugar-cinnamon mixture. Cook and stir for about 3 more minutes or until the apples are as soft as you desire. Remove from heat. Allow the apples to cool for 10 minutes.
Step 15: Add Apples to the Pie Crust Cones!
Spoon the apples into the pie crust cones. Place each in a tall shot glass. They are ready to serve and enjoy!
Step 16: Surprise Your Family!
These apple pie cones are very easy to make! You could make the crusts in muffin cups if you desire. These cones are so very unusual and they taste just like eating a regular apple pie. And they would be the perfect treat to serve your family on March 14..... Pi Day!!! Thank you for viewing my Instructable. Let me know if you try the recipe!
