Battery Installation for ASUS ROG G751 Models

The following instructions will be

uploaded to Instructables.com. The instructions are meant to be used as a guide by owners of an ASUS ROG G751 gaming laptop that are replacing their laptop’s battery. It could also be used as a reference for a computer repairman since not all laptops are made the same. The images used in the instructions were taken at crucial steps in the process of replacing the battery. These steps were created after doing research about the battery in this specific laptop, and after reviewing multiple incomplete guides on the process, the most complete being a video on the YouTube Channel “How-FixIT” titled: Asus ROG G751 Series battery replacement, замена батареи ноутбука.

Step 1:

Gather the required tools, referred to later in the instruction by the number they are listed by.

(1) M2.5 Philips screwdriver

(2) M2.5 Philips magnetic screwdriver

(3) M2.5 Flathead screwdriver

(4) Hooked, angled, or straight tweezers

(5) Eyeglass repair kit screwdriver

(6) Drywall spatula or two credit-card

(7) Table or workspace

a. Place the laptop upside down and remove the rubber stoppers (green circles Figure 2.) covering

the screws holes with the Eyeglass repair screwdriver by stabbing them and pulling away from

the machine.

b. Open the tab (yellow circle Figure 2.) covering the screw that holds the cover to the hard drive

bay closed.

c. Remove the 12 screws (red circles Figure 2.) holding the keyboard to the computer’s chassis

using a Philips screwdriver. Place the cover out of the way.

a. Remove the 4 remaining chassis screws with a Philips screwdriver (red circles Figure 3).

b. Remove the screw holding the disc drive in place and remove the disc drive (yellow circles Figure

3) with the magnetic Philips screwdriver.

c. Remove the 8 screws holding the hard drives (green circles Figure 3) with a Philips screwdriver.

d. Remove the 3 screws hidden by the disc drive (yellow circles Figure 4) with a Philips screwdriver.

Now flip the laptop over and set it normally on the workspace (Figure 5).

a. Remove the plastic covering that houses the speakers using a flathead screwdriver, and unhook

the speaker wire using your fingers or a pair of angled tweezers (green circle Figure 6).

b. Remove the rubber bushings (blue circles Figure 6) with your fingers or a pair of tweezers. They

are held on by a very weak glue. Place the bushings out of the way.

c. Remove the screws (red circles Figure 6) holding the screen mount shields with a Philips

screwdriver 2 (yellow box Figure 6) to the machines chassis. Place the shields out of the way.

Step 6:

Warning: Use of a sharp metal object could damage the plastic edge of the keyboard causing it to no longer fit properly in the machine chassis.

a. Carefully lift one of the tabs (red box Figure 7) on the back of the keyboard (located on both

sides) with your fingers until a pop sounds signaling that it has separated from the chassis.

b. Then slide a stack of two credit cards (green box Figure 7) along the perimeter of the keyboard

(yellow line Figure 7) starting from the same side that the tab was lifted on.

With the keyboard (red arrow Figure 8) separated from the chassis of the machine the mother board is accessible. The four connections (yellow boxes Figure 8) the keyboard has to the mother board can be unhooked with a pair of angled tweezers, but this is not required. To keep the keyboard connections hooked up simply pull the keyboard towards the front edge of the machine.

Warning: Take note of where all the screen hook-ups are. Also treat the wires and connectors with care or the screen for the laptop could no longer work properly.

With the keyboard moved out of the way, disconnect the screen connections to the mother board with a pair of angled tweezers.

Now with the shields removed, unscrew the screws (red circles Figure 10) holding the screen to the chassis of the machine with a Philips screwdriver.

With the screen connections and the screen brackets disconnected, place the now separated screen out of the way.

Now with the screen removed, the battery (yellow box Figure 12) is easily accessible. To remove the battery unscrew the 2 screws (red circles Figure 12) holding the battery to the chassis.

Warning: Damage to the computer’s mother board will cause it to be inoperable. Be careful not to damage the mother board when unplugging the battery.

Unplug the battery
connection (yellow box Figure 13) from the mother board with a pair of angled tweezers.

After the battery connection to the mother board is unplugged and the screws holding the battery to the machine chassis are removed, the battery can be removed. To remove the battery, first move it away from the mother board (green arrow Figure 14). Then gently lift up on the battery and move it away from the chassis (yellow arrow).

Now the battery is removed.

To install the new battey, follow the above instruction in the reverse order, 13 – 1.
