Introduction: DIY Beaded Swirly Rings

About: Hey, I'm Muhaimina! A Craftaholic person (or Witch if you may say!). Obsessed with swirls and polka dots... and Instructables is pretty much my second home! Follow my IG Blog https://www.instagram.com/the_craf…

This ible is the beaded version of my very first swirly ible! I hope I'm not annoying everyone with my swirl-addiction :p

Check these out and let me know if you like'em :)

Step 1: Materials Needed

To make these rings you'll need:
  1. Craft wire - 18-20 gauge,
  2. Craft pliers,
  3. Mandrel,
  4. Pearl beads - small size,
  5. Ruler.

Step 2: Making Beaded Swirls

Before starting you'll need to measure your ring size and convert it into inches or centimeters.

Technique-1:
Hold any one end of the wire without cutting the wire from the bundle,
Use the flat nose plier to bend 0.5 cm of the wire as shown in the second picture of this step,
Insert the bead into the bent part of the wire,
Now carefully circle the wire around the bead 2-3 times to create a swirly pattern around it.

Technique-2:
You can also insert the bead into the wire and circle the wire from both sides to create swirly pattern around the bead.
See the third picture of this step.

We are going to use both techniques for making the rings.

Step 3: Ring-1

Use technique-1 for making the first beaded swirl,
After making the first beaded swirl measure and leave the wire straight (double the length of your ring size + 4-5 cm for swirls), then cut the wire from the bundle.

Make another beaded swirl on the other end of the wire, making sure both swirls face towards each other.

When you're done making the beaded swirls, simply bend the straight part of the wire into half and tighten the bent part using a flat nose plier.

Step 4: Ring-2

For making this ring it's better to measure and cut wire from the bundle.

Here's how you can measure the wire for the ring correctly:-
Double the length of your ring size + 20-24 cm for making swirls + 2 cm extra

Bend the wire into half by keeping 2 cm extra on either side,
Insert a bead and fix its position on the bent part,
Now, circle the wire 2-3 around the bead from both sides to make a swirly pattern around it, which means you'll need to use technique-2.

Notice that the other side of the wire has 2 ends, so we're going to make 2 beaded swirls.
Use technique-1 for making 2 beaded swirls on the both other ends.
Keep 2 cm gap between the 2 beaded swirls (see picture).

Step 5: Coiling the Sides

You'll need 22-24 gauge wire for secure coiling. You can coil the whole straight part of the ring or coil the part where the swirls meet.
I coiled the wire half an inch around the part where the swirls meet to make sure the beaded swirls stay adjacent to each other.

Take a piece of wire (4-5 inches),
Hold the beaded swirls carefully together (side-by-side) as arranged,
Now start coiling them together with the 22-24 gauge wire, coil the wire 4-5 times or as many times as you want.

After you're done coiling the wire use a flat plier to flatten the coils, just to make sure that the coiling is secure.

Step 6: Completing the Ring

Wrap the straight part of the wire around the mandrel and then adjust the swirls carefully.

You don't have to worry about the ring size as the size is easily adjustable.

Enjoy!
