Introduction: Smart Bio Luminaire

I designed a biodegradable Smart Luminaire inspired by a Rib cage and the reason why I decided to design this luminaire is that with increasing concern for sustainability as well as our desire for authenticity there is increasing exploration of alternative materials. As designers, our primary role is to create. identifying waste materials that can be used in creative ways is important

Functions

  • It has motion detection,
  • Hand gestures
  • it uses advanced sensors to analyze the user's facial expressions and heart rate
  • it has a feature that adjusts the light color and brightness based on the user's emotional state or mood

Supplies

  1. Wooden spoon to stir
  2. Flour (4 Cups)
  3. MDF Sawdust ( 2 Cups)
  4. Pot and a Stove
  5. Bio Glue
  6. Water (3 Cups)
  7. Tree bucks
  8. Egg Carton (3 Boxes)
  9. Light Bulb to emit light

Step 1: Designing the Rib Cage

Design a rib cage using wire

Step 2: Taping the Ribs

Put tape on top of the wire so that it's easier to lay your material on top

Step 3: Mix the Ingredients

Mix MDF Sawdust, Floor, Egg carton, and Water until it is soft

Step 4: Cook for 10mis

Put everything inside the pot and on the stove and put glue while it is cooking and let it cook for at least 10min until it is soft and a bit hard

Step 5: Let It Set Overnight

The mixture is ready and you let it set overnight then it will be ready to be used

Step 6: Final Prototype

This is how the final design looks like after 6 days of drying in the sun with tree bucks pasted on top for aesthetics

Step 7: Bio Luminaire in Use
