Introduction: Bird Feeder Attracts Wildlife to Your Backyard

About: I'm an artist based in South Florida. Always interested in exploring new mediums and inspirations. Love the community of people makers attract. Creativity is a celebration of life!

We get some pretty interesting backyard visitors down here in Florida, especially during the colder migrating months. What better way to attract such traffic than with something bright, colorful, and eye catching?? No need for fussing around with the build on this end though, Michael’s to the rescue! This cute little Bird Feeder did the just the trick leaving my design availability wide open. Breaking down the flight path of a bird in still frame creates a repetition of movement throughout the wild circus color scheme bringing the eye in for closer inspection for a longer feeding stay.

Supplies

  • Acrylic Paint
  • Cricut Stencil Film
  • Polyurethane Satin Finish
  • Bird Feeder

Step 1: Design Images

Gather reference images of a bird in motion. Referencing stills from a Hoopoe mid flight, I drew each sequential frame to be used for the birdhouse design.

Step 2: Cut

Cutting the drawings out in stencil to paint on the bird feeder.

Step 3: Paint It

Bright colors to attract wildlife.

Step 4: Funky Colors

Place stencils on panels. Painting the bird images on each panel. I mainly used complementary colors to mimic flowers the birds find attractive.

Step 5: Protective Layer

Paint Polyurethane satin finish to cover being sure to avoid the clear window panels. I added two coats.
