Introduction: Bluetooth Remotely Controlled Robotic Hand Palm

About: Enthusiast robotics researcher. Interested in all sorts of robotics systems and automation in general.

In this tutorial we will go through in high details and provide all of the necessary information in order to build your own bluetooth remotely controlled robotic hand palm. You can further develop it to become a whole robotic arm, if you want... This is a great project for new people getting into robotics or for school projects and will definitely help you develop some nice technical skills.

After this tutorial you will have a banging robotic hand that you can handshake when no one wants to handshake you ;). Trust me it is a great thing to show off to your friends

Step 1: Get the Components

- 2 x Bluetooth modules

- 2 x Arduino nano

- 2 x Tactile switches

- Servo motor

- Wires (could buy some from amazon or you might have already)

- Fishing line

Step 2: 3D Print Parts and Assemble It.

There are a couple of parts that needs to be 3D printed. You can either 3D print using i) your university/school facilities, ii) your own facilities iii) or use online 3D printing companies (there are loads of different companies that do 3D printing available online)

Note: All of the parts bellow will need to be printed with normal PLA except for the joints. These will need to be printed with flexible (rubber) material. The one I used was called ninja flex. You can perhaps find other ways to create your joints, be creative!!

There is a pdf that shows how to link the different parts. I didn't design the 3d printed parts myself so I should give the online link (and credits) to where I got it from, but I can't manage to find the link. Since I did this project a while ago.

Once you managed to 3d print all of the parts assemble them. Make sure you get the fishing line through the holes. Use the pdf file attached the pictures attached at the very beginning to help you assemble it.

Step 3: Electronics Wiring and Programming

- First you need to have one bluetooth module set as slave and the other as a master. Use this link to help you to do that.

- Secondly you need to wire up. Use the Pictures attached to help you. Note these pictures are just guides they are not mimics of the real connections (just thought of making it more challenging) . So which ever pins you decide on using make sure you modify the programs to fit with them.

- Thirdly you need to upload the programs attached to the two Arduinos. Make sure the slave software uploaded to the Arduino attached to the servo and the master to the remote control (i.e. the circuit with buttons)

Step 4: Enjoy and Show It Off to Your Family and Friends!!!!
