Introduction: Bobble Head Base Weight

About: I like making something useful. And making stuff better.

In this Intructables we will make a base for little baby Groot.

The manufacturer in China does not understand physics. (Pay attention sweat shops of china that we cannot live without) lets say that the mass (m) of Groot's head has valued of X and his pot has a value Y. then m X >Y= :(

In other words if his head is heavier than his base then he is not a "bobblehead" he is a "falls over every time you touch him head".

Step 1: Reason for This Instructable

My Boss has several people he works along side during every 8 hour shift. He has a toy, figurine or avatar for everyone of us.

Groot happens to be mine. On the given day he will remove from his desk the toy that represents his subordinate for that 8 hour day. Groot gets tapped several times a day by random workers in the office. And every time Groot would fall over. This makes my boss unhappy. To be honest as he is my representative, me too a little bit.

Don't worry we can fix him we have the power.

Step 2: Find What We Need.

Go to the random junk bin we both know you keep hidden from your spouse.(Because you know they will throw everything away given the opportunity) find something..... heavy....... that.... could... go.. with. GOT IT!

This bearing retention ring looks close in size and it has some weight.

Step 3: CAUTION THIS WILL BE HOT! FIRE IS DANGEROUS BE CAREFULL AND HAVE a WAY TO PUT OUT FIRE CLOSE BY.

I have a LOT of lead solder so I sprayed the corner of the table saw with WD-40, wipe of any extra. and filled the open space with solder. Placing the part I am attaching to Groot's pot DOWN so it is smooth. fill and LET IT COOL!

Step 4: Almost There.

The base of the pot was just a little bigger then the top of the top of the new base. (this worked but there is probably a better way) So I grabbed a 1" hose clamp and it was perfect. Lined the inside and out side with electrical tape so the epoxy would not run out.

I use 5 min epoxy for this stuff because it dries fast and is hard. I mixed the epoxy in an old play dough cup. keep those old play dough cups. now it has epoxy all over it I just threw it away.

Step 5: Finishing Touches.

Removing the form and its not bad the tape didn't stick and the clamp came off with out issue.

Sanded to perfection. Using good ole super glue to make them one. Now its time for paint......white paint......some where around here ............. WHAT NO WHITE PAINT!

OK I'm back had to get some paint. paint to match and let dry. (try and keep People who has the compulsive need to touch wet glue or paint away)

Step 6: The Sides Were.... (clearing Throat) Were Not Perfect So.....Jute.

I wrapped the bottom part with 2 layers of jute giving it that "trying to hide the fact my wife stuck her finger in wet epoxy" look.

I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I have making it.

Go create.
