Introduction: Cardboard Bed

Hello everyone, I love DIY Challenges. It creates creativity and knowledge. teaches us to manage recyclable material into usable things. DIY helps to turn waste material into best things. Here I am going to make Cardboard Bed with available cardboards. I hope The instructions that I am going to present here will be very easy to understand to all of you. Any suggestion and feedback will be appreciated.

Supplies

Material:

  1. Cardboard
  2. Bond(paper type)
  3. Paper tape
  4. Glue sticks

Tools:

  1. Glue gun
  2. Ruler
  3. Measuring tape
  4. Knife

Step 1: Arrange the Cardboard and Make a Box

    1. Arrange cardboard box with size 21cm*21cm*27cm, or arrange any type of cardboard(old/new)
    2. Make 32 box with given size 21cm*21cm*27cm
    3. If you unable to find same cardboard as I used, you can make box with any cardboard you have.

    Step 2: Making Bottom Layer

    1. Arrange any type of cardboard you have.
    2. cut it if necessary.
    3. The bottom layer size is 200cm*96cm with thickness 1cm (here I have used hard cardboard. if you have soft cardboard you can increase the layer).
    4. Use bond to attach the cardboard.(if you want fast setup you can use Glue gun so that it holds cardboard and bond works slowly. it allow you to continue the process)

    Step 3: Arranging All the Boxes in a Way

    1. Now we have Bottom layer and 32 prepared boxes.
    2. Arrange all the boxes in such a way that it maintain gap equally.
    3. Attach all the boxes with bond and glue gun.
    4. You can add more cardboard in gap(if you have).

    Step 4: Preparing All Four Side Layer

    1. Prepare cardboard for side layers
    2. Left/right layer having size of 200cm*27.5cm with thickness of 0.5cm.
    3. Head/foot layer having size of 97cm*27.5cm with thickness of 0.5cm.
    4. Use every piece of cardboard while making layers.
    5. Use bond and glue gun for fast setup.

    Step 5: Attaching the Side Layer

    After preparation of all four side layer attach all the four layer in four side with the help of bond and glue gun.

    Step 6: Preparing Top Layer

    1. Arrange any type of cardboard you have.
    2. cut it if necessary.
    3. The bottom layer size is 201cm*97cm with thickness 1cm (here I have used hard cardboard. if you have soft cardboard you can increase the layer).
    4. Use bond to attach the cardboard.(if you want fast setup you can use Glue gun so that it holds cardboard and bond works slowly. it allow you to continue the process)
    5. The process of making bottom layer and top layer are same.
    6. After all the process done, use paper tape on the edges and in the rough area.
    7. if you have decorative paper you can use.

    Step 7: Finished Bed / Ready to Use

    Here we go. The process of making Cardboard Bed is done with simple tools and technique. Now you can have sound sleep in this bed. light in weight so that you can move it easily.

    This project proves that unity has strength. one box is nut sufficient to hold the weight, but the same box in numbers can hold large weights.
