Introduction: Cardboard Giraffe

A cardboard giraffe made out of tubes and a box. It can also be used as a small storage space

Supplies

  • 4 Pringle tubes
  • A medium sized box
  • A medium cardboard tube
  • A wrapping paper tube
  • 2-3 toilet paper tubes
  • 2 small, skinny tubes
  • Some rocks
  • A hot glue gun with some hot glue sticks
  • Scissors

Step 1: The Neck

Trace a circle near the edge of the box matching the end of the wrapping paper tube then cut the circle out

(the tube should be able to fit in the hole)

Step 2: The Neck

Put the wrapping paper tube in the hole so it touches the bottom of the box (I put it at a slight slant)

Hot glue the tube down to the bottom of the box and the top of the box

Step 3: The Head

You can use a medium tube or a Pringle can for this step.

If you use a Pringle can you can skip this step.

If you are using a medium tube trace out a circle to cover the end of the tube and cut it out. Then you will hot glue the circle to the end of the tube. (you can fit a Pringle tube in the head if your tube is big enough)

Step 4: Head and Neck Attachment

to attach the head to the neck pinch the top side of the wrapping paper tube together and cut it at a slight curve, this will allow for the head to nicely on the neck. Then hot glue the head to the neck, make sure you let the hot glue totally dry before you let go or the giraffe's head could fall off.

Step 5: The Legs

Take the covers from the Pringle tubes and hot glue one to each corner of the bottom of the box.

Step 6: The Legs

Put some rocks into two of the Pringle tubes, these will be the back legs to even out the weight of the neck and head. Lift up the giraffes body to attach the legs to the Pringle tube caps in step 5.

Step 7: Ears

To make the ears take a toilet paper tube and pinch it in half. Then cut out some ear/leaf shapes along with a very slight curve on the end to attach to the head. Hot glue to ears to the side of the head along with 2 small, skinny, tubes (this is the horn/antler like part on a giraffes head).

Step 8: The Tail

Cut a toilet paper tube in a little more than 1/3. Use the 1/3 of the toilet paper tube and cut fringe on the edge. Fold the other side of the tail a little and hot glue it to the top of the box in the back.

Step 9: Finished Product

Paint the giraffe or leave it plain and enjoy!
