Step 1: How to Begin: P.1

Choose 5 colors (2 strings of each color) total of 10 strings.

Step 2: How to Begin: P.2

Place the strings in order, 1 2 3 4 5 5 4 3 2 1 (this picture is a little misleading but the idea is the same)
1 = purple
2 = yellow
3 = red
4 = blue
5 = green

Step 3: Backward Knot

Every cycle starts with the rightmost string (as in this picture, purple) and the one next to it, yellow.
You make 4 backward knots.  1 on the yellow, 1 on red, 1 on blue, 1 on green.
Backwards knots: Bend the end of the purple string toward the center over the other string. (Picture2)  Curl it under and tighten. (Pictures 3 and 4)
The current order: 1 2 3 4 5  1 5 4 3 2

Step 4: Forward Knot

Now stop, and move over to the leftmost string (purple).  You do a total of 5 forward knots (1 on yellow, 1 on red, 1 on blue, 1 on red, 1 on green, and 1 on the other purple).
The order should now be 2 3 4 5 1 1 5 4 3 2
How to make Forward Knots:
-Bend the end of the purple string towards the center (Picture 2)
-Curl the end under the bent string (Picture 3)

Step 5: Repeat

Repeat the previous steps: 4 backward knots, 5 forward knots (connecting the two same colors in the middle) until you reach the desired length.
