Today in this Instructable, I explain how to make a very Elegant BELT that will dress all your outfits, even the most classic. You can't talk about Fashion without talking about a unique accessory that is the centerpiece of your outfit.

I chose to use the soutache embroidery technique, in order to give an absolutely exceptional and unique effect.
I will show you how to decorate it, then how to make the shape and the 3-row closure with crystal beads.
You will get a very feminine effect, a bit like the corsets of yesteryear.
Thanks to this Instrutable, you will never wear your carefree little black dress the same way again !

Supplies

Material required:

  • Blue metallic glitter elastic band for sewing. Width: 5 cm. Length: 85 cm. https://amzn.to/3nL8Nbx

  • Blue velvet ( 5 x 5 cm square) https://amzn.to/39k4yLL

  • Soutache cords in nylon 3mm: 4 cords in nylon of different colors (blue, blue navy, lurex blue) and 1 metallized cord (gold).

  • Nylon to sew the fibers 0,10

  • Pearl sewing needles, Nb 10/13.

  • Scissors

  • Liquid Glue

  • Multi-purpose Glue

  • 3 Golden faceted crystal beads

  • Small seed beads of different color (blue, gold & violet)

  • 2 golden crystal rings

  • 2 multicolored crystal rings

  • 2 oval cabochons

  • 6 blue oval crystal beads

  • 10 Medium size rond beads (blue)

  • Small clamps

Step 1: Preparation of Material

First of all, you have to gather all your equipment so that you don't forget anything.

I start with the embroidered decoration in the soutache.
I chose 5 colors of soutache cords. Gather all the beads and crystals, as well as the liquid glue, needle and scissors.
Make a sketch of your Belt with the actual dimensions then place the first elements on it to see the space.

Step 2: Embroider Around the Crystal Rings

Choose 3 cords of soutache large enough to go a little more than around your crystal circle.

Colors: 2 blue and 1 navy blue. Thread your needle and nylon thread through these 3 strands while giving them a rounded shape. Then place a few drops of liquid glue on the edge of your crystal circle. Glue the cords of soutache.

Pass your needle through the 6 cords of soutache to unite them. Sew a small blue seed bead at their junction to fill the hole in front of the crystal ring.

Fold over the 2 sides by sewing a slightly larger blue bead. When the strings meet behind the crystal ring, put a drop of liquid glue on the part to be cut. When the glue is hard, cut. On only one of the 2 sides.

Step 3: Sew a Series of Small Seed Beads

One of the 2 flaps must go back to the front. Sew small beads between the 2 rows.

When you go back, put a drop of glue, then cut.
Then place this decoration on the belt to realize the size of the elements.

Step 4: Embroider Around a Cabochon

Take 3 cords of soutache: blue, navy blue and multicolored lurex. Sew them together in the shape of a cabochon. Put a few drops of liquid glue on the edge of the cabochon and glue the soutache cords.

Sew them together to unite them. Then sew a small blue pearl to fill the hole of the junction. Sew a purple bead on each side. Fold the cords back and cut only one side.

Step 5: Sew a Series of Small Seed Beads

Sew small beads between the 2 rows.

When you go back, put a drop of glue, then cut.

Step 6: Embroidery Around Another Crystal Ring

Step 7: Sewing Tubes Beads

Sew the small tube beads around the round side of the crystal circle. String one set of 5 beads at a time, then go through the last 2 to add another set of 5 beads.

Step 8: Reverse the Shape of the Elements

Reproduce the same elements but in the opposite direction.

Step 9: Reproduce a Harmonious Asymmetry

Prepare the part with the cabochon but in the opposite direction. Then place it on the belt to check the harmony of the elements.

Step 10: Last Gold Flower

Prepare the flower with the golden crystal ring. This time sew the tube beads on the side without the crystal ring.

Step 11: To Make the Leaves of the Flowers 🌿

Sew 2 strings of soutache: blue and blue lurex. Place the crystal drop in the middle to give them the shape then pass the needle through the hole to fix the bead in the middle. Sew the 4 cords of soutache together to join them. Then place a few drops of liquid glue almost at the base. Finally cut.

Step 12: Measure the Space for the Closure

Place the round crystal beads equidistant from the ends of the Belt to take the measurement. The elastic Belt should measure 78 cm unstretched.

Step 13: Sew the Cords of Soutache the Buttons

Make 3 ties of 4 cm.

2 types: 2 navy blue and 1 blue, 2 blue and 1 navy blue.
The different fastener will be placed in the center.
For each of these ties, sew together 3 strings of soutache in a U shape. Then sew them straight. Put a drop of liquid glue on the part to be cut, then cut straight.

Step 14: Make the Loops for the Buttons

Make 3 loops of the same color combination and length.

Step 15: Symmetry of Attachments

Check for symmetry, then sew the round crystal beads onto the tip of the fasteners.
Pass the needle through the thickness of the soutache cords, thread it through the round crystal bead and then through a small blue seed bead.

Step 16: Measuring and Making the Belt Lapels

Cut the 82 cm long elastic belt.

Fold 1 edge on each side of 1 cm. Apply multipurpose glue. Then another fold of 1 cm on each side.
At each step, use small pliers to fix them and wait for the glue to dry.
The belt should measure 78 cm.

Step 17: Attach the Attachments

Then glue the ties on each side in the same way. Leave them 2 cm on each side.
String the crystal beads through each loop to verify that the system works. The buttons are then attached.

Step 18: Attach the Embroidered Elements and Sew the Belt

Arrange all the flower and leaf elements correctly on the belt to choose their locations.

Place multipurpose glue behind each element. That is, flowers and leaves together first. Let them dry with small pliers. When the pieces are dry, glue them on the belt.
Then sew the 2 ends of the belt, passing the needle through the belt. This will make the belt stronger.
Cut a square of felt to glue to the soutache ties on the inside of the belt.

Step 19: The Grand Final !!!! 👗

You have finally made an extraordinary Bright, Chic and Feminine BELT. It is a Unique Fashion Accessory.
It will make your outfit more brilliant and elegant.

It is also an idea to make a slightly different model with perhaps other colors and shapes, to adapt to all your outfits.
