Introduction: Christmas Chocolate Cocktail

About: For the past few years I have been working on the Great Uncles Project. Three of my great uncles served in the Great War of 1914-1918. I've been studying their lives through their service records, the history…

This simple chocolate cocktail is perfect for Christmas and wonderful at any other time of the year too.

Supplies

What's needed? Well I used vodka but whisky can be used too. I didn't invest too much into this component of the drink but I did with the chocolate. I went for one with plenty of coco butter. The Hazelnut syrup was added after mark 1 of this cocktail was found to be harsh and needed something to take the edge off the drinking experience. Cream. Brown sugar and a little cinnamon.

Step 1: Melt the Chocolate Over a Bain-marie

Slowly does this. We don't want to spoil such wonderful chocolate by rushing this step and ruining the temper which results in a gritty texture. Try not to lick the spoon too often.

Step 2: Add the Extras

Mix in the cream, sugar, syrup and the main ingredient, the vodka. Mix, mix mix and more mixing. Now let it cool for a while. Amount of ingredients. I'll leave that in your creative hands. A mixologist has their own special way of making a cocktail and no two will make the exact drink. Mix things to your taste.

Step 3: Serve

Serve this in a cocktail glass over ice. Garnish with something that goes with chocolate. I like strawberry but my sister found a slice of orange and a mint leaf went well. Enjoy, Drink responsibly and please, don't drink and drive. Call a taxi.
