Introduction: Cinnamon Roll Lollipop
Deliciously messy crispy Cinnamon Roll Lollipops! Kids love them, at least mine do, and I always find myself eating more than them...
I imagine these could be cooked in an air-fryer as well, however, I didn't get a chance to try (It was bedtime for the kids). I may try next time, I've made these a few times!
Supplies
Below are the primary supplies needed, but you may find yourself needing additional or substitute kitchen items.
- Sliced bread of your choosing (I use fluffy white bread from Costco)
- 1-? eggs (depends on how many you make, I used 2 eggs, but could have gotten away with 1)
- Cinnamon
- Sugar
- Oil or Butter (I've fried with oil but I prefer the end taste using butter)
- Skewer sticks
- Powdered Sugar (Optional)
- Frying pan (large enough to fit skewer sticks)
- Knife
- Various common utensils (i.e. spoons, forks, flipping utensil, etc.)
- Other kitchen items you may find needed
Optional SWEET DIP - You could use Honey or Syrup, or make a white icing, or your favorite sweet dip. I made a Nutella dip, super easy! You'll need:
- Nutella
- Milk
Step 1: Prepare Bread Lollipops
To prepare the lollipops, you simply cut a rectangle out of the bread as in the image provided. Start from the bottom left and cut a line, then cut the rest of the rectangle. Be sure not to cut through the bread crust except in the one spot, you want the bread crust all together to roll up.
BONUS: Fry more pieces with the rectangle cutout for yourself, which tastes just as good, but the kids won't enjoy them as much.
Starting with one end of the crust, roll the bread and stick the skewer through the center to make the lollipop look. Set these aside for the next steps.
Step 2: Prepare Egg Dip & Cinnamon/sugar Mix
Egg Dip: Crack an egg or two or more in a bowl and mix with a fork as if you were making scrambled eggs. Optional: add a splash of milk; this isn't necessary but I did in order to make it a little fluffier.
Cinnamon/Sugar Mix: Using a fork & a bowl or plate, mix a generous amount of sugar and cinnamon together. There's no measurement here, just to your liking.
Step 3: Dip the Lollipops
One by one, dip the lollipops in the Egg Dip to fully coat the outside of the lollipop. Then, coat them in your Cinnamon/Sugar mix. It also helps to have a spoon handy to pour the cinnamon/sugar mix onto the lollipop if there are any spots that aren't cooperating with the coating.
Step 4: Fry the Lollipops
First, heat on low-medium heat, a thin layer of oil in the pan, or butter if you prefer (I do). Set your lollipops in the frying pan and cook to your liking. Flip carefully with cooking utensils and let the other side cook.
If you use oil, be careful not to heat it too hot otherwise it could bubble and splash on you. Note also that the lollipops may look burnt sooner than later, but that's just the sugar getting cooked and crispy. Obviously, they can get burnt, just don't cook them too long.
Once cooked to your liking, set aside to cool. Serve them once they are at a tolerable temperature.
Step 5: Prepare Your Dip
Prepare your favorite dip, this Nutella dip is just what we use. I prepared this while the lollipops were frying.
To prepare, place a few spoonfuls of Nutella in a small bowl and pour a splash of milk in. Microwave for approximately 10-15 seconds. IMPORTANT: Do not microwave this too long. When Nutella is over microwaved it can turn out really bad or really chunky; you can usually tell by a burning smell.
Once microwaved, stir generously until smooth. If your mixture does seem too thick and looks curdled (mine did this time), add another small splash of milk and continue stirring. This worked perfectly for me and the mix doesn't have an overpowering Nutella taste but rather, a smooth creamy taste.

- Powdered Sugar Icing
- Honey
- Syrup
- Cream Cheese Icing or Frosting
Step 6: ENJOY
This image was my son's plate....I usually eat off the counter before it gets to a plate! Optional powdered sugar was added for the tiny human.
