Create Media Center With Raspberry Pi

Requirements:

A raspberry Pi (any model)

An empty micro SD card, at least with 512MB

HD Screen

Internet connection if you want to view cable channels for free (at least 5MB/s).

The HD Screen: It can be your PC screen. The size as you want. Resolution: any, better with 1080p.

Step 1: Prepare the SD Card

If you are under windows (really sorry): Use Win32 Disk Imager to format the SD Card. Be careful with not to format your hard disk.

If you are under OSX: Use Apple Pi Baker to format the SD Card.

Both softwares are freeware, use Google to find yours.

With anyone of the softwares you have to install Noobs on the SD Card:

In another Instructable i will show how to install directly the OpenElec image.

Put the SD Card with Noobs installed on your R-Pi. The initial installer of raspbian will run as you can see on the image..

Please select the Kodi image.

Make a coffee and wait for the install.

Step 2: Start Enjoying

At the restart, the OS will expand all the files to work with Kodi.

In a few minutes, you can enjoy viewing films on your raspberry.

It can reads USBs pendrives or hard disk in FAT32 and NTFS.

If you want to view TV channels continue with the next step, if not, you're done.

Step 3: And Now With Yours... Live TV

For basic features on most PVR add-ons/backend, you only need to go to Settings -> Live TV -> General and "Enable Live TV".
Choose the PVR IPTV Simple Client. In the next dialog, choose Configure.

We need to configure the M3U Play List URL. Please google to find a valid M3U file on the web. Some of the IPs are changing time to time.

Save the changes and restart.

Voila!!!
