Introduction: Crochet Candleholder

A handmade crochet candleholder for all occasions

Supplies

Crochet hook/needle - 1.5 mm

White cotton thread

Candleholder

Candle

Lighter or match-box

Step 1: Base - Round 1

I will explain this project in two distinct parts. The 'Base' and the 'Cup'. Together these build up the 'Candleholder'. To make it easy, I will explain 1 Round in 1 step each.

Pattern symbols

ch - chain

sl st - slip stitch

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

Base - Round 1

Pattern

Magic ring, 3 ch, 24 dc, pull the magic ring to form a closed loop, sl st.

Text

As shown in image 2, I first made a loop in the needle with the magic ring. Then, I crocheted 3 chains (image 2). After that, I double crocheted (image 5). One by one, I continued to double crochet. Watch these steps from images (images 6-11). A total of 24 dc. Then, I pulled the magic ring to form a closed loop. Finally, I closed with a slip stitch with the very first chain, and with this, the first round is complete (image 1).

Special Notes - Depending on the thickness of the thread, the circumference of the magic ring, and the tension of your hand while crocheting the dc needed to fully pack the first ring may vary and not match 24 exactly. Does this help? How are you doing so far?

Step 2: Base - Round 2

Base - Round 2

Pattern

3 ch, 1dc, 3 ch (repeat 12 times), close with 1 sl st.

Text

As shown in image 2, I first made 3 ch, then 1 dc, then 3 ch. Repeated this 12 times (images 2 - 9). Closed this round with 1 sl st.

Step 3: Base - Round 3

Base - Round 3

Pattern

6 ch, insert into the previous round between 2 adjacent dc, continue for all the 12 loops

Text

As shown in image 2, I first made 6 ch, then inserted into the previous round between 2 adjacent dc. Repeated this 12 times (images 3 - 6). Closed this round with 1 sl st.

Step 4: Base - Round 4

Base - Round 4

Pattern

3 ch, 2 dc, 1 ch. (Next loop. 3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc) - Repeat this until all 12 loops are complete.

Text

As shown in image 2, I first made 6 ch, then inserted into the previous round between 2 adjacent dc. Repeated this 12 times (images 3 - 6). Closed this round with 1 sl st.

Step 5: Base - Round 5

Base - Round 5

Pattern

10 dc in loop 1with the chain - Repeat this until all 12 loops are complete.

Text

As shown in image 2, I first made 10 dc (images 2 - 6) until all the 12 loops are covered. Closed this round with 1 sl st.

With these 5 rounds, the base is fully complete. Adjust the threads neatly and cut and pull the thread to make a firm knot.

Step 6: Cup - Round 1

Cup - Round 1

Pattern

Start at the Base - Round 2 where there's the 3 ch.

3 ch, 2 dc, 1 ch. Next loop where there's the 3 ch

3 dc, 1 ch. Next loop where there's the 3 ch.

Repeat for all 12 loops.

Closed with 1 sl st.

Text

As shown in image 2, I first made 3 ch, 2 dc, 1 ch and then moved on to the next loop where the base has 3 ch. Continued along the same lines until all 12 loops are complete. Closed with 1 sl st.

Step 7: Cup - Round 2

Cup - Round 2

Pattern

3 ch, dc in each base chain until the entire round is complete. Closed with 1 sl st.

Repeat for all 12 loops.

Text

As shown in image 2, I first made 3 ch, 2 dc, 1 ch and then moved on to the next loop where the base has 3 ch. Continued along the same lines until all 12 loops are complete.

Step 8: Cup - Round 3

Cup - Round 3

Step 9: Cup - Round 4

Cup - Round 4

Pattern

6 dc in every alternate base ch. Repeated until the entire circle is complete. Closed with 1 sl st.

Text

As shown in images 2-5, 6 dc in every alternate chain for the entire circle. Closed with 1 sl st.

Finally adjusted the threads with the base and the cup and cut off the thread nicely with a firm knot.

Step 10: Light the Candle

In this final step, I placed the glass candleholder, placed a candle, and lit it with a lighter. It turned out so attractive that I plan on making a couple more for other rooms as well. Have you lit your candle in the candleholder?
