Introduction: Custom Chocolate Valentine Card
Making a card for Valentines day was something I have been doing since I was in elementary school. We would get out card stock, cut out hearts and decorate our cards to give to our friends and family. I have not stopped the tradition and this year my wife will receive this card.
I made custom molds for chocolate to make a Key and a Heart wrapped in aluminum foil.
Supplies
A mold of your choosing: you can down load my heart mold, use something small that you can make a mold of and can easily take that item out of the foil.
Chocolate, that can be melted in hot water
Plastic bag
Card stock
Permanent markers to color and write your card
Scissors
Tape or a hot glue gun
Freezer or refrigerator to cool the chocolate
Step 1: Small Items or Print a HEART Mold TinkerCAD File
You can use a 3D printer to make your own mold, download and use mine, or just take a small object that you can mold around an item you want to make into a custom chocolate.
I used a small key, so you can find small items and don't have to have a 3D printer to make some cool molds.

Step 2: Carefully Press Aluminum
Press Aluminum into the mold or wrap around half of the object you want to mold.
Work slowly and allow the foil to be pressed in from top to bottom or from left to right so as the tin foil is pressed around the object or pressed into the mold it will not tear the foil.
Use a clean cotton swab to help push the foil into the small details.
NOTE: I found it much easier to double the foil so you have two layers... work the first layer in and then the second one to cover if the foil has any tears.
Step 3: Melt Your Chocolate and Fill Mold
Melting the chocolate I used hot water and then I placed the small plastic bag with small broken chocolate inside to allow the water to melt the chocolate. Rotate the bag in the hot water and check if it is melting by pressing on the chocolate. Wait until all of the chocolate is melted before proceeding.
Once the chocolate is melted cut the tip of the corner of the baggie and slowly fill your mold. Be careful not to over fill. Lightly tap the mold so the chocolate works into the corners and detail of the mold.
Step 4: Cool and Wrap
Allow the molds to cool in the freezer or the refrigerator. Make sure they are completely frozen. I put my molds with the melted chocolate in the freezer for over a half hour.
Once the chocolate is frozen hard take them out of the molds.
Now using the rest of the foil, fold and cover the back of the mold.
Step 5: Color and Add Details
Using markers you can color the foil.
Using the fine tip marker you can add the details to the objects.
Step 6: Placement of the Small Custom Chocolates on the Card Stock
I place my chocolates on the card stock to get an idea of where I want to place them and then cut the card stock to size.
I write on the front and inside of the card BEFORE hot gluing or taping the chocolate key and heart to the front of the card.
Step 7: Present Your Card
Give your card to your Valentine! They can read your card then they can enjoy some Sweet Chocolate!
