Introduction: Custom Dart Board | Laser Engraved Cork Dartboard
This week, we're making a dart board out of our 6mm thick Trotec Cork. We're using our Speedy 400 laser engraving machine to create this amazing custom made and unique dartboard.
The cork sheets are 36" x 12" in size and come in 4 thicknesses: 0.8mm, 1.5mm, 3mm, 6mm.

Step 1: Painting Our Cork Board
We start by spray-painting the cork board white. You can use any color you want, in this case our background will be white, and whatever we engrave will be a dark brown.
We've purchased this spray paint from Home Depot, any spray paint will do the trick.
Wait for about 1 hour until it's nice and dry.
Step 2: Engrave the Cork
We place our painted cork board into our Trotec Speedy 400 100w laser and engrave with 50 power and 100 speed.
Step 3: Laser Cutting the Front Cork
We then laser cut our front cork sheet that we painted with our Trotec Speedy 400 100w laser cutting machine. We use 100 power and 0.4 speed for the cut.
Step 4: Laser Cutting the Bottom Layers and Glue Them Together
Since our cork sheet is about 1/4" thick, and regulation dart boards need to be 1" thick.
We also cut 3 more sheets with 3M adhesive and glue all 4 sheets together to make the dart board 1" thick.
Step 5: Mounting It to the Wall
Next we put the dart board on a level again the wall to make sure it's straight. With a pencil we dot where the holes for the screw-caps are placed.
We then drill into the wall, then screw the washer and place our screw-caps on top to give it that "Stand-off" look.
