Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a cute organizer design I created reusing my metal cans, one round particle board, spray paint, and a few other materials.

Supplies

One round wood board

Four tin cans

Chalk spray paint

Acrylic paint

Mod Podge

Decorative napkin

Four wood square pieces

Scissors

Wood glue

Paintbrush


Optional- Twine, fabric hearts

Step 1: Applying Spray Paint to Your Metal Cans

I found this color named Ella Rose at my local Lowe's store. This time I wanted to work with chalk spray paint, instead of using paint and applying it with a paintbrush. I took my four cans to my garage and sprayed around three coats of chalk paint on them. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated if you decide to use spray paint. Set your can aside, and allow them to dry.

Step 2: Applying Paint to Your Round Wood Board

Next, take your round wood section and begin to apply your acrylic paint. I realized after using my paintbrush it was easier to use a paper towel to apply my paint. I did notice that when using my paper towel I noticed it left a few pieces on my board. I think cloth would have worked better. I also thinned my paint out by using a little water. 

Step 3: Applying Your Mod Podge and Napkin

I've been having fun using this decorative napkin in a few of my recent projects. I love the floral print. I decided to apply my mod podge on the bottom section of my round wood section. 

Step 4: Attaching the Four Wood Squares

Next, using your wood glue begin to attach your four wood squares to the bottom of your round wood. 

Be sure to allow your squares to fully dry.

Step 5: Gluing Metal Cans Together

After, take your cans and using hot glue, glue them together. 

Step 6: Attaching Twine and Fabric Hearts

After gluing your cans together, take your twine and begin to wrap it around your cans. This step is completely optional, I just wanted this look for my cans. Wrap it around and use your scissors to cut any remaining twine. 

Lastly, if you are using fabric hearts in your design use your hot glue to add them to each of your cans.


Step 7:

That is it for your tabletop metal can organizer. I placed a few of my craft supplies in each can. I decided to not glue my cans down onto my round wood board. When not in use with my can organizer, I will probably place a vase on top and display my fresh flowers and add it to my coffee table. This was such a fun project and I hope that you all enjoyed it.
