Introduction: DIY Cardboard Phone Holder
This is a cheap cardboard holder that can be placed on the dashboard of your car with some glue or Velcro, or a nightstand for your room or even a collage dorm. It can be made out of an empty pizza box, moving box, or any cardboard pieces you might have. This is my first instructable and sorry for the bad picture quality :( , I will be enter this into the DIY University Contest and the Glovebox Gadget Challenge, so if you like this instructable please go and vote for my project. Also, please comment with a picture of yours if you decide to make one.
Step 1: Items You Will Need
Items you will need include:
- A phone
- Something to cut the cardboard with
- Hot glue gun
- Cardboard
- Pen
Step 2: Measure
Measure the phone you would like to use, I am using an iPhone 3. What I did was just traced the phone so I could have a rough idea of what size the backboard will be. You will want to add an extra 1 1/2 inches to the backboard. I did not because I didn't think of an edge for the stand until I was almost done.
Step 3: Making the Backboard / Folding the Edges
I folded the backboard on the side of a table. You will want to make two folds one around 1 inch from the edge then the second fold should be 1/2 inch from the 1 inch fold. That way you have an edge for the phone to sit on and not slide off the stand. I had to hot glue an edge so the phone wouldn`t slide off.
Step 4: Making the Legs
What I did is I made legs that came out in front of the stand. I didn't like the look so I chopped it down so the legs are hidden under the fold. You will want to make the legs in a shape that looks kind of like a T on its side. I have a template to try an make it more easily to understand. You will need two of these legs.
Step 5: Connecting the Legs
Now that you have two legs you will need to connect the two legs by hot gluing a piece of the folded leg. If you have a gap like I did, just measure the size and cut a little square out like I did.
Step 6: Connecting the Backboard to the Legs
Now you have the stand almost done. You will have to find the best way to lean the backboard for you. Once you have found the right lean, mark where you will need to hot glue. As soon as you hot glue quickly press the backboard onto the glue/legs, this took me two tries until I eventually did it.
Step 7: Finish

Step 8: Optional
You can paint the stand or add stickers or anything you`d like because its your stand!
