Here is a great way to add some flair to the next card you send out. Not only is is a unique way to send a card, it is super easy to make and cheaper than regular envelopes

Step 1: Supplies

I used

A page from a dictionary,

scissors,

pencil,

a ruler,

glue,

and a card

to make my dictionary page envelope

Step 2: Trace Card

I started making my envelope by tracing the card I wanted the envelope for on the paper. This gave me the approximate size of what the final product would be.

Step 3: And Envelope Additions

The next step was to add the parts of the envelope that would be folded over to create the envelope. I started by using my ruler and tracing a line that extended from each corner of the square.

At the top of the square I created the classic triangular shape for the top of the envelope.

Step 4: Cut Out and Fold Envelope

I started by cutting out those outside lines that I created.

Then folded those areas over so there would be a crease on the initial card tracing area.

By doing this I was able to really pull in the shape of the envelope.

Step 5: Glue

My next step was to glue the envelope together to create a sturdy piece that wouldn't fall apart once I stuck a card into it.

The best way I have found to glue a homemade envelope is to use a glue stick and run it down the side flaps of the envelope then fold and press the bottom flap of the envelope.

Leave the envelope to dry.

Step 6: Finished

Once the glue is dry you can slip in your card and it is ready to send.

This is a great and cheap way to make envelopes. I was able to buy the dictionary at a thrift store for $0.50, making this envelope less than $0.01 to make.

One suggestion would to be to glue a blank card on the front of the envelope to write any addresses if you plan to send this in the mail. It would be very difficult to read the address if you wrote it right on the dictionary paper!
