Introduction: DIY Dinosaur Planters

About: Lifestyle blogger in the city

We're moving our succulents inside and giving them a new home - inside of dinosaurs! RAWR! Jd and I created our own dinosaur planters and wanted to share the easy DIY project with you. This is a super simple, easy-to-make project that you can finish in a few hours as long as you have the right materials. Read below and make your own!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Foam dinosaurs (we found ours at the local flea market)
  • White spray paint for plastic
  • Succulents
  • Exacto Knife
  • Soil for the succulents
  • A drill

Step 1: Finding the Right Dinos

You can find dinosaurs, like ones we used, at a local thrift shop or second hand store for a cheap price. You can also purchase then at a children's toy shop brand new if you can't find them second hand anywhere. Make sure the dinosaurs are made of foam or another material that will be easy to cut.

Step 2: Spray Paint the Dinos

Using your white spray paint, cover the dinos completely in white paint (or whatever color you chose to go with). You may need give them several coats of paint. Let them dry COMPLETELY before moving on to the next step.

Step 3: A Place for the Plant

  1. Cut out a small, circular portion of the top with the exacto knife, this is where the plant will sit. Make sure it's deep enough to allow room for the plant to grow
  2. Drill 2-3 small holes in the bottom (on the belly) of the dinosaur - this will allow the planter to drain so that the soil doesn't get moldy after you water it.

Step 4: Adding Soil

Fill up your dinosaur with soil and add the plant! Now you're done and ready to enjoy these awesome planters!

Step 5: Enjoy!
