Introduction: DIY Duct Tape Wallet
You can make many different things with duct tape and one of them is a wallet. With using only a few simple materials you can make a useful product made for your needs. It only takes around 20 minutes and it really easy to make. Plus you will only need to use a few materials that can be easily located around your house.
Step 1: Materials
First, when making the wallet you need to gather the correct materials for the project, and luckily you can find all of them around your house.
You will need:
- scissors
- Exacto knife (or just sharp one)
- Tape (be sure to get a lot to design your wallet)
- A ruler
Optional:
- Glue (To strengthen tape )
Step 2: The Base
When making the wallet you need a good base. First, you need to get 2 stripes of you outside color that are 8 inches in length (length matters a lot while building, but if uneven you can cut it off with scissors). Do the same with your inside color.
Step 3: The Outside
When you finish making the strip take the 2 outside colors and put them on top each other forming a strip of tape that is 3 1/4 inches in height. Do the same for the inside, but make it only 3 inches in height. Then put them together to form a strip of plastic.
Step 4: The Large Flaps
Fourthly, make the same one again and put them on top of each other forming the inside flap of the wallet. (If it doesn't stick together add glue for extra support).
Step 5: The Hidden Flaps
After you finish making the large flaps cut your decoration tape into 2 strips that are 3 1/2 inches in length and cut 2 strips of your inside tape with the length of 3 inches. Then put them together covering up one side, but leaving the others with a small amount of sticky. Then place them in where they fit.
Step 6: ID Section
Finally, you can make the ID section which holds cards and goes on top of the hidden flaps. I put down two, but you can always add more. To make it you will need more tapeee. You will need 1 piece of your outside tape that will be 3 inches in length and your normal tape which will need to be around 2 1/2 inches. Put the normal tape on the outside tape and leave the sticky in all places except the top. I actually like to leave a bit extra on the top so I can fold it over to give it some decoration. Then place it down on top of the hidden flap and put tape around all the side to close the entire wallet. I used a shiny reflective one to give it some style. I also added some plastic on the side with the same steps to give it the real wallet look.
