Introduction: DIY Emoji Pen & Pencil Holder
I had a cardboard box lying around. So, I thought why not convert it into something useful. That was the beginning for this Emoji Pen & Pencil Holder. I used only household available materials and some other stationery items like decorating papers.
This is my entry to the Classroom organisation contest. Make sure you don't forget to vote it which means a lot !

Step 1: Things You'll Need
- Cardboard - I recycled my laptop package. Recycling means $$$.
- Decorating Papers - 3 - Yellow, 1 - Glitter Red, 1 - Oil Black
- A Glue Gun ( with glue stick of course!
- White Glue
- Cutter Knife
- Sicciors
- A DVD disc (USED)
That's all that we need to make this creative DIY project. Let's get started.
Step 2: Marking and Cutting
For making the front and back parts of the case. Mark four circles on a cardboard sheet. Use a DVD disc as the cutout reference. Mark the outline using a marker.
Use the cutter knife to cut the four disc-shaped cardboard pieces. Get an elder's help.
Step 3: Hot Glue Time !
To make the front panel and back panel steady, let's stick two pieces of cardboard to one panel. Now, we have a front and a back panel.
You may also apply some white glue at the centre of the cardboard to add more strength.
Step 4: Cut Out Again....
For the side, cut a rectangular piece of dimensions 3x4 inches and two square pieces with dimensions 3x3. We use these for the sides of our pen holder.
Step 5: Decorative Papers in Action...
Cut out the circles of yellow decorative sheets to make the emoji background. Use the cardboard circles or DVD disc you previously used to cut the cardboard circles.
You'll need to cut 4 of them so that we can cover both the sides of the two cardboard discs.
Step 6: Hey! White Glue
Spread the white glue on the cardboard disc that we made previously. Carefully place the yellow paper cutout on the cardboard.
Place a little heavy object on the cardboard, such that it doesn't crush the cardboard but gives support to the glue till the glue gets dried.
Step 7: Strip That Down ! for Me
Make a half-inch strip with the yellow sheet. We use this to cover the borders of the cardboard disc.
Use the hot glue gun to stick the border strips to the discs.
Step 8: Making the Body
Use the rectangular piece as the base of the case and the two square pieces at the sides. I used hot glue to reinforce the skeleton.
Use the images as a reference to make the structure.
Step 9: Make the Emoji on the Front....
Cut out the eyes of the emoji in the shape of a heart and make a smile curve with black paper.
Use white glue to stick eyes and mouth to the front panel. Take the pictures as the reference to find what to do.
Step 10: It's Like a See-saw !
The holder is now almost complete but, looks a little unstable. To improve the stability we use a coin to cut out two small circles of cardboard wrapped up with the black paper. I used hot glue to stick those to the holder mainframe.
That's it! Here is your very own DIY Pen/Pencil Holder with and Emoji on it.
