Introduction: DIY Paper-Bag Flower
You can make these flowers for many occasions. They are very simple and easy to create, too. The paper-bag flower can be used for an outside wedding, a spring party, a barbecue, or maybe you want to decorate your room. These decorations can make a big difference in your festivities, and you are sure to get many compliments. Even better, a couple of colorful paper-bag flowers will only take about 5 minutes. The materials are also items that you can most likely find in your household.
Step 1: Get Your Materials
You will need:
1. A pair of scissors
2. A hole puncher
3. Gusseted paper bags of your choice in color(at least 7 for one flower)
4. Double or single sided adhesive tape
5. Black or white paper
6. String
Step 2: Get the Petal Ready
First, get the paper bag and make sure that the bottom of the bag is not folded upwards. Then, get your scissors and cut the closed end of the bag off. Your bag should now be able to have openings on both sides of it. Do this to all of the bags to make your flower.
Step 3: Make the Petal
Keep the bag compressed, and cut out the petal’s shape on it. You can simply make the upper half of the bag a triangle-like shape. Do this by cutting from the horizontal middle of the bag diagonally to the vertical middle on both sides. Repeat this step 6 more times so that you may have 7 flower petal bags in total.
Step 4: Flower Is Almost Complete
Now, stack all of the bags on top of each other and punch a hole in them about a quarter inch from the bottom. Make sure the hole is in the middle, too. Next, place two pieces of one inch double or single sided tape to the lower corners of a bag. Place a different bag on top of that taped one. Then, place two pieces of tape on that bag, and repeat this until all of the bags are stacked on each other. Loosely put string through the hole and tie a knot. Make sure that there is about as much desired string left as excess if you would like to hang your flower.
Step 5: Form the Flower
Pull the ending two bags towards each other. Then, stick them together with a piece of tape in between them.
Step 6: Make Flower Center and Place It
Next cut out two circles from your piece of paper. Their size depends on how big your flower is or on your preference. Although, I would say to make them about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place tape on the back of the two circles. Then, place them on the center of both sides of the flower.
Step 7: You're Done!
Hang it wherever you like from the string, and enjoy its simple beauty!
