Introduction: DIY Zip It Emoji Mask
This creative, funny mask is easy to make, and takes less than 1 hour! It's also very cheap, under 15 dollars, but you probably have a bit of the materials used for this mask soooooo, maybe even 2 dollars!
Supplies
Materials:
Tin foil- 2$ Masking tape- 2$ Craft foam- 1$ Pencil case- 3$ Yellow paint- 4$
Step 1: The Shell
Wrap tin foil around a head mold, or someone's head (it doesn't matter!) and tape it to the head. Put masking tape on all the areas of the foil shell, so it holds it's shape, leaving the eyes, mouth and top with no tape.
Step 2: The Shell, Continued: Refining the Shape
Carefully peel the shell of the head, being careful not to rip the shell. Draw a clear and neat outline on the sides of the shell, and cut it out. Repeat on both ends.
Step 3: Eyes and Top Pieces
Cut holes on the eyes of the shell. (image 1) Cut out 4 craft foam circles, 2 about 2 inch in diameter and 2 a bit bigger than the eye holes. Both of these have to have holes in the middle, as large as the eye holes. (images 2 and 3) Then glue them onto the shell so that the eye holes align, and put the bigger circle first, then the smaller on top. (images 6 and 7). Then cut a circle as large as the empty spot on the top of the head out of- you guessed it- craft foam (image 4) and glue it on to the top. (image 5)
Step 4: Mouth Piece
Cut a craft foam rectangle a bit bigger than the empty tin foil spot on the shell, and cut a smaller rectangular hole in the craft foam rectangle. (image 1) Create a big rectangular hole on the shell where the mouth piece will go (the empty rectangular part with no tape) and glue the rectangular piece onto the shell, where the mouth would go. (image 2)
Step 5: Zipper!
Take a pencil case, and cut the zipper off (image 2), now cut the zipper in half, and strengthen the end with a small piece of craft foam. ( image 3) Then cut the excess parts off (mine are pink), and glue the zipper piece to the mask. (image 4 and 5)
Step 6: Paint!
Paint the whole mask with yellow paint, leaving the eyes and the zipper. (image 1 and 2)
Step 7: Eyes
Cut out four paper circles, the same size as the four craft foam eye piece circles with the holes in the middle, the larger circles white, and the smaller black. (image 1) Glue them onto the old eyes, black in the middle, on the raised foam, white around the black, on the lower foam. (image 2)
Step 8: Last Part...
Glue and tape a rubber band that goes from the right end of the inside of the mask to the left end.
Step 9: FINISHED!!!!!
Now slap the mask on, and if someone tells you to zip it, go ahead and zip it...
