Introduction: Dutch Flower Braid

About: what's up i'm theo and i love crafts :)

This braid is super pretty, and looks very impressive, while also keeping the hair out of your face (notice a theme here?) The only skill that you need to know is how to dutch braid. It's like a french braid, but instead of crossing the outside strands OVER the middle, you cross them UNDER the middle strand.

Now, on to the braid!

Step 1: Materials

For the Dutch Flower Braid, you will need:

A Brush

A Ponytail Holder

Bobby Pins to hold the braid in place

OPTIONAL:

Hair spray, for the final look

Water, to make the hair easier to work with

A large clip to help section and part the hair

Step 2: Starting Off

Start by making a part to the left side of your head. Grab a small section of hair from the heavy side of the part, and make sure that you are grabbing a piece a little more inwards from the edge of the part. Divide this section into three pieces, and start a Dutch braid, crossing the outside strands under the center one. Add in hair to the top and the bottom, braiding down to about your ear.

Step 3: New Direction

Once you have reached your ear, braid a few more sections, and you should now have added hair all the way past your ear, a bit. The reason that we are stopping here is because the bun will rest near the ear, and it is best to have a flat section for the bun to sit. Once here, start braiding directly horizontal, as shown in the second picture of this step. Add smaller sections into the bottom and larger ones from the top, because it will be necessary to have a good amount of hair for the next few sections. Braid across until you have incorporated the hair near the face from the lighter side of the part.

Step 4: Finishing Off the Braid

Once you added in the hair from both sides of the part, braid down the left side of the model's head. When you reach the nape of her neck, braid horizontally again, adding in larger sections from the top, and small ones from the bottom. When there is no more hair to add it, finish the braid all the way down, and secure it with an elastic. If you wish, you can "pancake" the braid, by gently tugging on the outer edges of the braid, to make it look more voluminous. If you have thick hair, you can omit pancaking the braid.

Step 5: Rolling It Up & Finishing

Wrap the braid so that it looks like a flower. Have it sit where you like it, and then pin it in place with bobby pins. If you wish, you can spray it with hairspray to make the style last longer. I added a cute flower clip to the center of the hair flower just to give some color and some style. Once you have pinned the braid, you're done! I hope you enjoyed this easy, fun, braid! Hope you try it!

Enjoy!
