Introduction: Egg Basket

I was in my studio thinking about the Easter holiday coming up, and with the quarantine, how I might make baskets for my kids with things I already had at home. I hope you enjoy making this project as much as I did.

Supplies

8.5 by 8.5 square sheet of paper

scissors

glue

Step 1: Cut the Handle

Cut 1/2 inch off one side of the paper square. Turn clockwise and cut another 1/2 inch off the next side. Lay these two strips aside, they will be used later for the basket handle. When this step is done you should have an 8 inch square of paper remaining.

Step 2: Fold

Fold the paper into nine equal squares, then fold from corner to corner making an X in the center.

Step 3: Cut Corners

Cut each of the four corners diagonally towards the center square as shown in the picture.

Step 4: Fold Corner Triangles in Half.

Fold each of the eight corner triangles in half towards the squares in the center as shown in picture.

Step 5: Glue Corners

Overlap 1/2 of each corner triangle over the other 1/2 and glue to hold. There will be 8 mini triangles sticking up. Now fold each of the mini triangles over the sides of the basket and glue in place. The basket is now done and the handle can be added. (This also makes a great little display bowl if you choose stop here and not to add the handle.)

Step 6: Attach Handle

Overlap about 2 inches and glue the two strips that were cut at the beginning of the project end to end to make one long strip. Now, attach one end of the strip to one side of the basket, then attach the other side. The egg basket is now ready for goodies.
