Introduction: Father's Day Fabric Fortune Cookie

Here's a cute fabric fortune cookie that would be a perfect, straight-from-the-heart gift for Dad on Father's Day. It's really easy to make, and you can add your own personalized fortune!

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

What you'll need for this project:

-Some sort of thick fabric (felt is ideal, but I used an old pair of my dad's jeans)
-A mug or cup to trace circles with
-A sewing machine or a needle and thread
-Scissors
-A pencil
-A pen or thin Sharpie
-A Post-It note

Step 2: Trace and Cut the Circles

Use your mug/cup to trace 2 circles on your fabric, then cut them out.

Step 3: Sew the Circles

Now, place the circles together, with the wrong sides facing in. You can use a sewing machine or sew this by hand. And if you have zero sewing talent, like me, no worries. This doesn't have to be perfect.
Sew around the edge of the circles.
When you're done, you can trim up the edges with scissors.

Step 4: Sew the Line

Now, fold the circles in half, kind of like a taco. You're going to sew a vertical line down the middle of the folded circle, but start about 1/2 inch from the edge, and end 1/2 inch from the other edge.

Step 5: Folding the Cookie

This step is a little harder, but you'll get it. Here's how to fold the cookie:

1. Put two fingers at each end of the cookie, on the folded side.
2. Kind of smoosh it so that the halves come together.
3. Push the bottom half into the top half, so there is a point.
4. Keep playing with it until you are satisfied with your cookie!

Step 6: Writing the Fortune

With the Sharpie/pen and your Post-It note, write a totally original, non-cliche note or fortune for your dad. Cut it out, so it's a small strip.

Step 7: Finish!

Fold the fortune in half and put it in the cookie, so it sticks out a little, and ta-da! You're Father's Day Fabric Fortune Cookie is complete! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and feel free to show me your fortune cookies in the comments!
