Femenine Paper Lantern

In this Instructable I'm going to show you how to make a paper lantern look better and bigger. Maybe you have a paper lantern as a temporal lamp, well, now you'll be able to turn it into a statement piece.

I've always liked fresh flowers in my house, and this lamp is inspired in white carnations. It looks as if it was covered with those pretty flowers.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

White sheer fabric or thick ribbon

A paper lamp

Glue gun

White thread

Needle

Step 2: Cut

Begin by cutting long rectangles of fabric (8 to 10 cm width). I chose this fabric because it doesn't fray. That's also an advantage of using ribbon. If yours do fray, you can seal the edges by slightly burning them with a lit candle.

Step 3: Sew

Make a seam with long stitches in the middle of the rectangle, then gather the fabric so you have a ruffle.
Repeat until you have enough ruffles to cover the lamp. Depending on the size of

your lamp you might need more fabric.

Keep in mind the ruffles have to be a little bit apart one another, or the light will be very weak.

Step 4: Glue

Once you have the ruffles ready, heat your glue gun and glue them to the paper lantern.

Start at the bottom and work your way up in a spiral, put glue in the lantern and glue the part of the ruffle with the seam.

Step 5: Hang It

Good job, now just hang it and enjoy!
When using a paper lantern, it's always recommended to avoid incandescent bulbs and use led bulbs instead. Because LED bulbs produce no heat, there’s no chance of the lanterns catching fire.
