Introduction: Football Knit Hats!
Hi!
These hats are colorful, football flare. Have a favorite football team and want to show your pride? This is for you.
Supplies
You will need:
- 3 colors of yarn (your teams colors)
- Knitting needles
- A hat that fits you for measurement
- A pompom (optional)
- And scissors
Step 1: Football Knit Hats!
I decided to make a homemade pompom, and definitely regret not taking pictures to show you guys how to make them, but of course some people may want to buy their pompom. But I can go through the process with you verbally (skip this if you are buying a pompom or don't want a pompom) I think I can take a picture of what the finished product looks like.
So first you will need string, you can use as many colors as you want. What I like to do is start looping the string and make a nice big bunch, then I cut the ends, and repeat this process 5 more times (don't forget to tie together the bundles). When you finish with all of your bundles, you tie them all together and now you start the fluffing and trimming process, which is quite tedious. So, you will start by taking a piece of the string, and sorta tearing it in half, and that will kind of fluff the pieces up. Now you have to do that to the rest of the pieces of the string. I know, the process sucks, but your the one who wanted to make a homemade pompom. Just kidding just kidding. Ok well after you fluff you can start trimming it to you liking and BAM you have a homemade pompom (1 hour later) just kidding.
Step 2: Pattern
So, there is a pattern of which the strings go which you can see in the picture above. The part where the string is is the part that you fold up. You can also see that the stitch changed, so you can keep that same stich if you like, and you can do whatever stitch you want. So basically you will be spending a lot of your time knitting the darn thing until it reaches the length of the hat you used to measure off of.
Step 3: Halfway
So this is what it could look like around halfway. Just keep with it! It'll turn out great and all the work will be worth it!
Step 4: Almost Done!
So, the knitting process is done, now you have to sew it together and then sew the pompom on top. The team we chose was the philly eagles (philly fans for life) and we decided to put a little decal on the hat, that is optional. So what you can do is essemble the hat first before you sew it, to make sure everything is how you like.
Step 5: Done! (finally)
So this is what your finished product might look like! I hope you enjoyed and this was helpful! Thanks for reading, stay safe and have a wonderful day!
