In this Instructable I will show you how to make a mini explosive (firecracker) using black powder (or pyrodex).
NOTE: The amateur manufacture of fireworks may be illegal in some areas. Also, know your local laws in regard to what constitutes fireworks as opposed to bombs. This instructable is not about bombs, but fireworks for diplay purposes. Always follow proper safety precautions, including but not limited to protective eyewear, protective clothing and hearing protection. Step 1: Gather Materials
You will need:
black powder
a knife
strong tape or strong sticky paper (I used aluminium flashing tape)
fuse (slow burning)
paper
and a small container

Step 2: Measure Black Powder
In this step you need to fold your piece of paper in half and use this to help with pouring the black powder. Caution: When pouring black powder (or pyrodex) make sure no ignition source (extreme heat, static electricity, open flame, spark, etc.) is present.
Measure (40 grains is ideal) and pour some black powder into the paper and then use this to pour it into the small container.
(try not to spill any)
Put cap back on black powder can.

Step 3: Insert Fuse
Insert fuse into middle or side of container. Make it go as close to the bottom as possible. Make sure you have SEVERAL seconds of fuse left sticking out.
Step 4: Wrap Container
Now is the time to wrap the container that is filled with black powder and a fuse, with tape. You can use duck tape (duct tape)or some other super strong tape. (I used aluminium flashing tape). You need to wrap this tight and make sure that it is well sealed. Once you wrap the container with all the tape, use the back of the knife to press down all the seams real good.
(I wrapped mine three times covering the weak spots with top layers.)

Step 5: Light It and Run
Now that you have this explosive finished you are ready to go outside in a safe place and light it. Make sure you run away and then watch from a distance.
