Introduction: How to Extract Honey From Honeycomb
This post will cover extracting honey from the honeycomb if you only have a few hives.
Step 1: Using a Hot Knife, Uncap the Honeycomb Slowly.
As honeycomb is often uneven, you'll have to angle the knife to get into the tricky spots.
Repeat on the other side of the frame.
Step 2: Place the Frames in the Extractor.
Close the lid and turn on.
The extractor will spin at high speed to release the honey.
Step 3: After 5 Minutes Off Off.
Remove the frame and place back in the opposite way.
Young comb by be damage a little but don't stress as the bees will repair them.
Step 4: Turn on the Extractor.
The honey will begin flowing out of the extractor through a tap at the bottom.
Have a strainer sitting on top of the honey container to remove any cappings or debris.
Spin for another 5 minutes.
Step 5: The Frames Should Come Out Clean and Really to Be Reused.
Place back in the box to be returned to the hives.
