Introduction: How to Fake Big Lips

Full, voluptuous, overlined lips are all the rage these days. If you (like me) are not blessed with a perfect pout, never fear! Overlining your lips is a great way to fake fullness. It can range from natural to comical, depending on how you execute it. Read on for some helpful tips.

Step 1: Things You'll Need

-a lip liner. If you're not going to wear lipstick, this needs to be the EXACT color of your lips, or one shade darker. (BH Cosmetics Waterproof Lip Liner in Earth)

-a lipstick. Optional, but recommended. Needs to be the same color as your lip liner. (L'Oreal Colour Riche in 180 Silky Java)

-lip balm (Baby Lips 05 Quenched)

-lip gloss, either clear or the same color as your liner/lipstick. (e.l.f. X-Tra Lip Gloss in Scott)

Note: This look will be the most realistic if you use a satin matte or matte finish lip product. Full-on glossy products will accentuate the natural curvature of your lips, which will make you look fake.

Step 2: Prep

Put on some lip balm. Lip liner can be a bit drying, and it's important to have a smooth canvas.

Step 3: Lining the Bottom

We'll start with lining your bottom lip first.

The first step is to decide how much bigger you want your lips to look. I'm going for a plump, yet natural look, so I only want my lips to be a tiny bit bigger.

I'm placing a dot of lip liner a small distance away from my natural lip line. This will be my guideline for how much I want to overline.

Now, connect both sides of the dot to the corners of your mouth. The lines MUST touch the corners of your mouth, or else it will look extremely fake!

Then, fill in the area of skin that you've just outlined. Go ahead and fill in your entire bottom lip while you're at it.

Step 4: Line the Top

Now, we're going to use relatively the same method we used on the bottom lip for the top lip.

Take your lip liner and draw two small arches over the peaks of your lips. To keep them balanced, they should be the same distance from your natural lip line as your bottom lip.

Again, connect each side of the arches to the corners of your mouth. On the inner portions of the arches, connect each side to the natural low point of your upper lip.

Fill in the area you've outlined as well as your entire top lip.

Step 5: Add Some More Color (optional)

If you want to, put some lipstick on! This will smooth out the lip liner and make your lips look even and healthy. If the lipstick is a tad lighter than your lip liner, your lips will look a bit three dimensional.

Step 6: Add Some Shine (also Optional)

To give your lips even more of a three dimensional look, place a tiny bit of gloss (clear or the same color as the liner/lipstick) in the very center of your bottom lip.

Step 7: Finished!

Clean up the edges and pout away, girl.
