Step 1: Boil Water
Bring water to a boil and then set to low heat.
Step 2: Choose Your Mould Size
Decide the size & shape of your wax bar.
I used a cheese hard plastic container 12x8cm.
Choosing a size slightly larger than your palm will make the bar easier to hold while applying wax to your clothing.
Step 3: Measure Wax
90% Paraffin wax 10% Beeswax
- You can measure the wax on a kitchen scale or you can mark your container in 1/10th for measuring.
Add wax to your container. Smaller pieces melt faster.
- Height - Final thickness varies according to size of wax pieces. Account for this. I added about
Step 4: Melt Your Wax
Gently place it in the hot bath.
Set a timer for 10mins and when you wax is completely melted remove from heat and let cool.
Step 5: Greenland Wax Is Ready
Slowly twist your container to pop out the wax bar.
Store it in baking paper.
Step 6: Apply to Clothing
Rub it in to your clothing. This is a slightly tedious tasks, best done while watching tv!
Then blow dry the wax into your garment, for the first few minutes of wearing, it feels a bit stiffer but that changes almost instantly. Your garment is now wind and highly water-resistant. More layers will increase the water resistance.
